but in got season 7 when cersei walks in front of the skull of balerion it appears to be very small than u described
That chest looks way too big…
Lets just say, Smaug Size XD
SEASON 7 SPOILERS!!!
So the Night King's dragon doesn't grow right?
Still not as big as Ancalagon the Black
blue whales can grow up to 100 feet long
" that's a pretty big boi " XD
grrm says he ties to be as rational as possible hence why they have two legs and not four for example. since much of the stuff in game of thrones is based on the stories of the small folk i wonder if it is rational to expect that an animal that would be a natural part of this world would grow all its life. the laws of physics say that godzilla, for example, could not have been as big as he is. true its fantasy, but george tries to be scientific
Shruiken from Eragon, the Green Death from How to Train Your Dragon, and then Balerion! Throw in Smaug too! 👍
What the hell killed balerion
It's a wyvern
great and thorough work. my only gripe would be that it's probably an unlikely assumption that dragons keep growing at the same rate their whole lives. I'm willing to suspend disbelief for the sake of a fantasy series and assume that they keep growing their entire lives, but to assume they keep growing at the same rate is what trips me up.
This was freakin awesome!
Awesome analogy!! Thumbs up.. Not sure if Balerion grew to that size, I saw that the dragons were kept in dragon pit where they grew smaller and then died of small size. great analogy though! Respect..
I have been waiting for a comparison like this, thank you! Hope to see the full grown Balerion in one of the spin offs
hello sir. in the first season, ayra gets stuck in the "dragons cemetery", located in king's land. there is a moment where she gets close to the head of a very big dragon and she is smaller than its teeth. maybe that is balerion's teeth
Ur saying dany is 7 feet😂😭
I'm not sure if this was accounted for already or if it was mentioned already… But when you look at the images of Dany on Drogon vs the image of Balerion, I think there is a larger difference in perspective. With Dany and Dro (D&D) having more of a profile shot or a horizontal layout from the camera angle. But when looking at Balerion, his head and the direction he is coming seem more angled at the "camera" or the viewers perspective. This gives his rider a much smaller look because he is further from the view you are given.
Like I said, this may have already been accounted for. But I love the math you did, I think it is excellently done. I'm just not 100% about the differences in perspective, although they are very similar.
Gaaaaahhh All this math my brain…..
props for remembering your friends across the pond. Not everyone does 🙂
His skull didn't look anywhere near that big in the show… So wait… size does matter?
Your "747" was actually a DC-10 silhouette. Just saying. Otherwise cool video 🙂
Hi, I just give link on this video on my instagram account (@got_theories_and_predictions) for few days. I respect your work so I want you to know
eat big to get big it is dragons slogan
Rip balarion
They aren't actually dragons there wyverns
smaug is best
I am just thinking about the growthrate of dragons in general.
We already know that they dont grow when they are captured.
In comparission to most other living animals there has to be a growth cap considering his skeleton/ muscles/ the ability to fly with the mass a dragon has.
And u can exclude the aging process in general. Think about it as lobsters who have the possibility to immortality(no cellreproduction errors while aging)
If u got some spar time to think about that …. Go for it 😀
Night King would one shot easily kill Balerion, that his huge size only make it easier target for Nigh King.
Schools should start using dragons as a form of measurement.
If, in season 7 Vyserion had continue to grown up that's bullshit!
I'm pretty sure it's biologically impossible for a carnivore to be this huge though. The volume of meat he would have to consume every day to sustain his base metabolism is preposterous. We already know the blue whale is the largest known animal to ever exist on this planet. According to these estimates they're barely the size of Balerion's tail. How in the world will you feed such a beast in middle age westeros? Magic I suppose.
Nice presentation you've made, im impressed! Im not into game of thrones but im into drAgons math and science!
Can we all talk about that last episode? Episode 6? Dear god, I can't even… poor thing 🙁
Wow Balerion is almost twice as big as Smaug lol
How big was the dragon in "Reign of Fire" with Christian Bale? How would the Game of Thrones dragons compare to that one?
Good luck feeding them! 😂
Balerion is red eyes black dragon
If we're going to get technical (and it seems we are, getting into measurements and proportions), then if I may point out the silhouette of the aircraft in the video is not a 747. It appears to be an MD-11. The 747 is significantly bigger than the MD-11.
balerion vs smaug!
i would love to see an episode from the past where they show balerion. or at least drogon and rheagar to get that big
how does it compare to sizing balerion's skull?
Kewl analysis. Thanks a lot for putting this together!
