Damascus steels recipe is not lost. blacksmiths still make them, and you can purchase plenty of stuff made from them. tho they are quite expensive compare to normal steel.

Oh dear god where did you and so many other people get that lie about Damascus steel from? We know exactly how it was made and can make it again today if we really wanted to. The steel itself is nothing more than crucible steel that was made in India and the steel ingots were then sold around the world. it was only later that the metal workers in the middle east learned how to make the steel for themselves.
So, please stop spreading that particular lie.
Um damascus steel can be made by billet welding steel together forging it then hammering it to a flat piece of metal cutting it again welding thous pieces together then hammering it to a sword shape it will have the pattern on it
