Funnyman Seth Meyers will fill Jimmy Fallon’s shoes hosting this year’s 75th annual award show.

As one of the first award shows of the year, the Golden Globe nominations set the tone for the season. The nominees were announced this morning at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA and livestreamed with a little help from Kristen Bell, Sharon Stone, Alfre Woodard and Garrett Hedlund. It was a REALLY good day for HBO series Big Little Lies, The Post, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri which all received 6 nominations. But The Shape of Water beat them all out with an impressive 7 nominations. The nominees for the coveted award Best Motion Picture, Drama include: Dunkirk, Call Me By Your Name, The Post, The Shape of Water, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. While the nominees for Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical see Lady Bird, Get Out, I Tonya, The Disaster Artist, and The Greatest Showman go up against each other.

We’re happy to report Best Actress categories see a lot of familiar names. For Best Actress in a Drama Meryl Streep gets a nod for The Post, Jessica Chastain for Molly’s Game, Michelle Williams in All the Money In The World, and more. Some of your favorite TV shows were nominated including 13 Reasons Why snagging a nom for Katherine Langford for Best Actress in a TV Series Drama. Fellow Netflix show Stranger Things received two nominations including Best TV Series Drama. The category also see nominees The Handmaid’s Tale, This Is Us, Game of Thrones and The Crown up for the honor.

It’s interesting to note that all major digital players are nominated in big ways with Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu all receiving nominations. This award season comes in wake of Hollywood being completely SHOOK by major sexual misconduct scandals. One result of that is Christopher Plummer being nominated for All the Money In the World- a role he took over at the last minute due to Kevin Spacey’s misconduct allegations. Be sure to tune into the Golden Globes on January 7th to see who takes home a trophy. So what nominations most surprised YOU? Tell us by leaving a comment below. As always I’m your host XXX XXX thanks for tuning in.

  1. Thank you for pointing out the issue about Kevin Spacey and Christopher Plummer taken over.
We love Christopher Plummer great actor always has been always will be…But to win a award for something u just steped in to is ?

  2. I’m sad that “How to get away with a murder” wasn’t nominated. This show is freaking incredible and this season is truly amazing. Viola’s acting in the last scene of the last episode deserves all the awards, she is a brilliant actress.

  3. I am beyond happy first of all for Margot Robbie finally getting the recognition she deserves!! ❤ Second I'm also very happy for Dunkirk, The shape of water, BLL, Ladybird and The greatest showman!

I am surprised though that Westworld hasn't gotten a single nomination, it's an incredible show! One of the greatest productions I've seen in years!
