  2. Wonder how they make this blades in the anime/manga etc.
    The blades are clearly made to break in specific ways. Likely to avoid the whole blade shattering and sending small pieces of shrapnel flying everywhere.
    And of course like a box cutter, the breaking the end gives you a new sharp unused edge.

    Then again, I don't know how box cutter blades are made, maybe the swords are made in a similar manner.
