Paddy Considine has landed one of the biggest roles of his career after being announced as the first major role of Game Of Thrones prequel, House Of The Dragon.
But considering he’s already had parts in some cult favourites, with iconic characters on both film and TV always standing out, we shouldn’t say we’re surprised.
If you recognise his face, but can’t figure out where from, don’t worry – Metro.co.uk has you covered, with a full rundown of his most essential roles.
Here are the essential roles to see Paddy in as he lands this game-changing character…
Peaky Blinders (2016) – Father Hughes
The Peaky Blinders found one of their cruellest enemies during season three, in the shape of Father Hughes.
While he was a man of God, Father Hughes was also a man of politics, and worked for The Economic League.
He was also a child abuser, with those in the care of the church falling victim to him during his time as a priest.
This included Michael Gray (Finn Cole), the secret son of Polly (Helen McCrory).
But noone crosses a member of the Peaky Blinders and gets away with it, and as you can imagine, there’s a particularly grisly fate in store for a child molester…
Hot Fuzz (2007) – DS Andy Wainwright
Paddy had more than one appearance in Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s ‘ice cream trilogy’ – but DS Andy is just iconic.
As part of detective double act The Two Andys (with Rafe Spall playing bestie Andy Cartwright), Wainwright was a disillusioned police officer who didn’t take much of a liking to Pegg’s new cop in town, Nicholas Angel.
While the town is perfectly idyllic and next to no crime, he’s basically constantly bored – until a conspiracy begins to come to light, and soon he’s living out his action cop fantasy.
Pride (2014) – David ‘Dai’ Donovan
Pride is retelling of the LGBT activists who formed a massive support unit for the miners strike during the 1980s.
A defining moment in British queer history, Paddy plays the real-life David ‘Dai’ Donovan, a miner from Onllwyn, Wales, who forms a bond with the group as they unite against their shared frustrations at the hands of Thatcher’s government.
In the film, Dai makes an passionate speech thanking the LGSM (Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners) group for helping out the small local village, and the power that friendship can have when they stand united.
While LGSM faced backlash due to the homophobia of the era, and of the village, the group started a movement together.
The Outsider (2020) – Claude Bolton
As Claude Bolton, Paddy became entangled in the murder investigation of an 11-year-old boy.
Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, The Outsider soon delves into the paranormal and evil side of a supposedly quiet down.
We won’t get into too many spoilers here, but Claude is one complicated character, with secrets of his own to hide as detectives seek the truth.
It’ll leave you gripped from start to finish.
The Third Day (2020) – Mr. Martin
Paddy’s newest release sees him team up with Jude Law and Katherine Waterson for this thriller mini-series, based around the strange goings on of a fictional town.
He plays resident Mr Martin, who welcomes newcomer Sam (Law) into his home after he gets stranded on the island overnight.
The Sky drama has currently only released part one – titled Summer – has been released, with Autumn and Winter being released later this month.
Game Of Thrones – House Of The Dragon will be released on HBO.
