My favorite Youtubers! The Agent and the Snake
It wasn't magic that got Little Finger killed, it was that Sansa knew Arya never wanted to be a Lady of anything.
I would say Joseph Campbell had a major role in the inspiration for alot of the modern mythos. Lucas was directly inspired by the heroes journey to make Star Wars. It wouldn't surprise me if Rowling had similar inspiration.
My opinion is that if written properly in the last season, they could actually make the ending great.
After the white walkers are defeated, Dany or Jon or whoever is crowned and plot points are tied up, Westeros descends into the Medieval barbary and petty infighting it had experienced before the start of the series, Varys and Tyrion are executed for wanting political change and it turns out our heroes didn't break the wheel they became part of it. The ultimate irony being that the idealism of the last series was misplaced – people are still people.
If that was Martin's last barb, that would be awesome.
Thank you for a good talk to listen to. You're definitely hitting the nail on the head with my generation lacking a sense of tragedy.
There is one thing which you don't mention though, the Financial crisis. I think it has had a great impact on my generation, particularly causing distrust of the establishment and giving a greater drive towards actions that serve self-preservation. Either causing people to gather in larger groups fighting for a purpose or with a focus on their own career.
I hate Harry Potter so much, not for anything it is because it's just a dumb fantasy book written by an idiot but because of it's cult among those who started reading it when they were really young and impressionable.
The good eventually wins : the lone wolf dies but the pack survives 😀
alot of the actors have movies to go and make. they can't stay making a series for the rest of their lives
