After the fifth season, the HBO series will have run out of books to source from. Is the cast excited about that, or terrified?

  1. I mean D&D have to have the updated iteration of WoW, which should be basically done. So season 6 would be able to source the book too right? So with 3 more seasons to play out, and 2 more books to be released, it's possible D&D have the source material for the next season and a half, and wil just free ball season 8 with no material.

  2. Judging by how the television is going, and as it seems it will have a similar ending with the novels. It is safe to say that Young Griff, is a blackfyre pretender. Not being present in the television series might indicate that his efforts will fail in the novels, due to fact that he may be the false dragon.

  3. Thy are over hyping this a bit as they still have a lot of unused book material to get through this season before they run out.
Still they do have the problem at the moment with some of the characters, mainly Bran and Sansa catching up in plot with their book counterparts.
That may become more of a problem round season 6 but there is a good chance the next book will be in print by next year and remember that in any case George is a key member of the series writing team.

  4. Having read the series through twice, so yeah, I'm a little obsessed with it, I can't wait for next month! It will be so interesting to see where all the story threads go in their different directions. I've imagined so many different scenarios for each of the characters, and it will be neat to see how the story lines are taken. Whether they will go in the same direction as RR Martin intended or not, we'll never know. Probably in some things, yes, and then there may be some changes RR didn't originally intend, but seem right now, as HBO takes the story to the screen. I love this series!

  5. Before you scrutinise the show for leaving the books behind you've got to understand that they can't keep the show on hold for years hoping that GRRM will finish his books… If you look at someone like JK Rowling she was on a tight schedule and managed to finish them all. He needs to stop eating and get writing.

  6. I am sure I will have to discontinue watching GoT at some point this season.  I love the show, but I would much prefer reading the conclusion of this story before watching it.  I just have strong doubts that I will be able to avoid spoilers through media and word of mouth.  Either way is frustrating.

  7. Maybe I am an oddity in that I don't care, really. "Books are the books and the show's the show," I hear this alot but it seems many people begrudge the show's success for not being true. Now I love the books and will wait till they are finished, but will do so without whining or crying like these fake fans about the release dates. I have a life other than the book, something which seemingly they do not.
As I see it,  if comparing the two takes away the ability to enjoy the show….then don't compare them or don't watch the show. If anything, I view the show as an addendum to the books,  some kinda alternate universe for the real story; and a good one, at that. Now as for the ending, when the show matches up with the books, I will probably give up on it and wait for the written version.  But that's just me.
People just need to relax and get over themselves……problem solved.

  8. Hopefully they ditch all the mystisim and fantastical parts of the story. I was okay with brief hints at magic in the first 2 seasons. But recently there has been a lot of it and its really turning me off to the series.

  9. I'm surprised George RR Martin has agreed to the show over taking the books. As an author I think this will really ruin his legacy as writer and story teller. The show is great, I love it but the books are just so much better. As Sophie Turner has pointed out, her character in the books is pretty much finished but due to the mass popularity of her character in the show, the ending I believe will now be dictated on what fans of the show want, which to me says Martin has lost direction on what he wanted for the endings. Such a shame. This book series could of potentially gone down in literature history, instead, now will only be known as a corporate sell out.

  10. those books were and are my favourite books ever..i wished for this show to get aired now im really pissed off over not reading the end but seeing it and iv no sympathy for martin he must be a bit pissed off over his lifes work and secrets getting told on tv before he can put them in his books..he knew this could happen and part of me doesnt blame him but a true artist would never sell his work incomplete

  11. It does not matter I already know who are the two who will either collide or ally at the end 🙂

The answer is in the title by the way you don't need a genius to figure this out !
