They have far fewer souls in them compared to lust, greed, etc. This grants them basically immortality, but they do not have enough souls to actually regenerate. Think of them like zombies, they can take a serious beating (like losing their head, arms, legs, etc) and just keep going like they cant even feel it or effected by it.
