Game of Thrones season 7 episode 5 is sandwiched right between two big battle episodes but in this fast paced season there are no unimportant installments. In Eastwatch we saw Jon Snow approach and pet Daenerys largest dragon Drogon, and this didn’t go unnoticed by the Queen. We also learned that Jon’s parents, Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, were actually married. This huge reveal came as Gilly was reading a septon’s diary while Sam was working at the Citadel. Whether Jon Snow’s parents were married or not was one of the biggest mystery in Game of Thrones ever since the R+L=J theory was confirmed. Now we know that Jon is a legitimate Targaryen and an heir to Iron Throne.
At Winterfell in episode 5 we saw that the Northern Lords are beginning to lose patience with the King in the North being away. Game of Thrones season 7 has seen Jon spend most of the season at Dragonstone, and Littlefinger is scheming to undermine his power. We saw Arya Stark spying on him, but also that he had set a trap to fool her. Sansa is stuck in the middle, but still seems to be supporting her family rather than listening to Littlefinger.
In Game of Thrones season 7 episode 5 we saw the return of Gendry, and found out that Cersei is pregnant with Jaime’s child. Bran Stark sent a raven to Dragonstone to tell them that the Night King was marching toward Eastwatch by the sea, and the gang got together to travel north. This brought together Jon Snow, Jorah Mormont, Tormund Giantsbane, Gendry, Thoros of Myr, Beric Dondarion, and The Hound as a team headed beyond the wall.

I can't believe there is only 2 episodes left.. I enjoyed the break down of the this episode although I am terribly gutted about the spoilers that have been going around… I work in a DVD shop An if I told my customers about the movies I'd have no customers… Just saying….
There's not much point now in arguing over whether the episodes are going too fast — they are what they are. It seems obvious to say that, perhaps if the show hadn't spent so much time in Essos, there'd have been more time for the end game, but if manga and anime have taught me anything, it's that sometimes, you just gotta delay-delay-delay and fill-fill-fill until one part of the story catches up with the other. Do we always need something to complain about?
i was thinking that too- that maybe elia was ok with it? i mean, they were married so presumably they talked. dany saw the vision where aegon is born and rhaegar names him, tells elia he is the prince that was promised and his is the song of ice and fire, and says there must be one more. so obviously he had told elia about the prophecies, the long night all that. and when she found out she couldnt have another, maybe she believed in him enough that she thought he had to do this to save mankind- win the battle for dawn, end the long night, whatever you call it. maybe she believed she had to let him go, was doing her part, as she couldnt provide another heir. her sacrifice. maybe she thought giving him up was better than ending up playing Nissa Nissa's part. idk. its questionable, he still did her and his 1st 2 kids wrong leaving them alone- although it was his dad that wouldnt let her and the babes go with his own pregnant wife and viserys
to keep Dorne in line he kept them there. and obviously Rhaegar didnt think he would die, so maybe thought she was safer in the red keep than lyanna in the tower of joy. the annulment would mean elia was NOT his wife when he went to the trident, but he didnt tell anyone or kick her out of the castleso he wasnt treating her like an ex he wanted gone. she was still being treated as his wife. idk, its shady all the way around. but all im saying is maybe elia wasn't just such an unknowing, mistreated victim of betrayal. maybe he was a little more honorable than that- still shady af- and she knew what was going on at least, and possibly had given her permission/agreement or even blessing. i dont know. G.R.R.M always makes sure everyone has good and bad in them, nobody is perfect, including perfect Rhaegar. the tourney thing musta been embarassing as hell for poor elia, regardless of whether or not she was cool with letting him go. maybe SHE was the only perfect person in westeros. i guess we won't know until we find out whose name he said as he died.Cercei is NOT pregnant- she is just saying that to keep Jaime around!
Am I the only one to believe Randyll and Dickon were kinda futile as characters?
You seemed to miss Danny's favorite Snow moment: "I don't need your permission, I'm a King". It was a huge look of approval on her face.
If any of you think Arya and Sansa are so stupid as to not know exactly what Littlefinger is up to then you should be watching Harry Potter or something else. All Sansa has done for years now is watch everything Littlefinger has done. His tactics and methods. And Arya has been trained with arguably the badest secret ninja society on the planet! They are playing Littlefinger and will beat him at his own game! Oh, and not to mention Bran. Who already let us know as well as Littlefinger that he knows what he's up to with the "chaos is a ladder" comment. Littlefinger is not in Kansas anymore. He's on their turf and out of his element.
The book that was given to little Sam was the book big Sam was transcribing
All I heard was Bromance!
'He likes kids' ahahahaaaaaaaa
Is anyone disappointed with Tyrion this season? He is supposed to possess an intelligent mind in a dwarf's body yet he devised a war plan as if the enemy – his siblings – had no plan or army of their own. Part of being intelligent is to know if you can carry out a job or not and he was not qualified to devise a battleplan but admittedly better than the experienced Sand women, the elderly Olenna and the inexperienced Greyjoys.
He is also a hypocrite. He starts to drink after the tarly's are burnt alive but he is ok about two soldiers being brained by Gendry on his behalf because he has poor timing. Unlike the Tarly's he is not the last of his name so what if he lives or not? Besides Olenna was his ally who was betrayed by her strongest vassals – the Tarly's – so why should she not be avenged? One other thing…he suggests a potential suicide mission for Jon, Jeor etc to get a wight. Basically it is ok for everyone else to do the dirty and dangerous work????
I am not liking Tyrion at all this season. Just like sansa he will be given a free ride until the end because he is useless.
Way too fast! The whole season but specially this last episode ! Don't understand why they did that! Very sad
On a side note, is anyone else sad that instead of being half way through the season we are now already at the final episodes?
Drogon is going to fly in and save them from the whites when they are about to die.
We have heard theories of a "rat" within the ranks of Dany. Cersei knew Tyrian had spoke to Bronn, she was aware that Dany's dragon attacked the Lannister army before Jaime walked into her chambers to even tell her. Does this further the idea of a "rat" or just a way to speed up the show?
If Jon is Targaryan, I'll bet there's a scene coming up in a future episode where he's engulfed in flame somehow and also is unburnt.
In past seasons Dany has used her dragons to push men around a bit.. Sometimes she orders Drogon to burn someone to prove a point, she did that back in Essos.. But it backfired on her this time.
Based on the input from Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, and Iain Glen, Jon's salty look was him weighing the fact that he knows about Jorah's slaver past and how much Daenerys appears to trust him, and then decided to go with Dany's trust over his "father"'s judgment of Jorah years ago.
SmokeScreen discussed how Ghost was mentioned by name this episode. I seem to have missed this….can anyone confirm???
I enjoyed the episode Pete however I agree things are moving too fast… They should have taken the time to tell more story.
Jon was drawn to the dragon because he has dragon blood that's why it makes sense. Not sure why Dany landed the dragon infront of him though
Honestly, they should have sworn allegiance to Daenerys. They are idiots for giving up their lives for Cersei. They were sworn to Tyrell before.
dude, lol wtf
he doesnt just "run into genry" lol wtf he goes looking for him
you gotta pay more attention if you wanna do this vids… lol
I love your recaps. Nice video pal.
Anyone else notice that Jon's hand are quite small? and dirty?
Jon, Jorah, Gendry with the warhammer, Thormund, Beric, Thoros and… (drums roll) THE HOUND (ba dum tiss!)
That's pretty much the badass dream team.
The only way they could have made this cooler is if they somehow got Drogo resurrected.
I like how jorrah looks at Danny when she says "i didn't give you permission to leave" he instantly looked at Danny then jon like "oh oh you think your stealing my queen from me oh he'll no prepare to be "lost beyond the wall"
Lol is it just me or was that just really funny?
Maybe Jon Snow isn't a bastard
Drogon could smell dragon blood in Jon and got excited. Like a dog when he sees his master. He ran up to Jon and started smelling him. It was like a reunion for them both.
Why is everyone acting like Dany is Mad for burning the Tarlys. She gave them a choice and they made it. Randal fought for the Targaryens in Robert's rebellion but now he doesn't think she has the right to the throne? His honor is bullshit. He just wants control of the Reach, which Dany probably would have given him had he bent the knee. The fact that he knows Cersi blew up the Sept and was still backing her shows just where his honor lies. #burnthemall
They should have gone north of the wall via a ship. They can better snatch a wight and extract.
you almost got your first thumbs down from me but I do like your videos so lol I just shrugged it off, I thought it was clear why drogon did what he did, the eye shot it said it all he, ( drogon) sensed the blood of the dragon( the original title but then changed) dany wasn't controlling drogon this was all him and at the end you see Jon sensed something to, you could see the look on his face, it was had to let go.
