Why I Now Hate Game Theory

GameTheory was always extremely frustrating for me as a viewer because I loved the core content—the theories themselves, the research and the clever post production—however what I absolutely couldn't stand was MP himself (I actually dislike even typing that annoying name).

I'll give him a pass on having an annoying voice and accent as he can't help that but not the tired forced comedy routine of [background music stops] "Get it?….Do you get it?….Because [x]….and [y]…." , the deliberately bad awkward joke gag that took the place of actual good jokes for about 10 years.

Most irritating of all though is the near constant photos of himself inserted into the video. Now I admit I have an aversion to seeing people's faces plastered where they don't need to be (See every youtuber who puts there face in all their video thumbnails, I blocked ProJared's channel for filling my screen with his mug alone)…

…but MP seems to love cramming those self photos in videos as many times as possible, and again it's done with the "Heheh I know it's annoying, that's why it's funny, isn't this obnoxious?" humour that isn't actually funny and really is just obnoxious. That's the whole schtick – if I be irritating but acknowledge that I'm irritating then I'm being funny.

I think he's one of those people who's suffered from being good looking and thus having people boost his self perception, it'd certainly explain the mugshot obsession. Oh and for the record, I don't like seeing my own face either – the fact that Google makes my photo pop up all the time irritates me too so yes my own face pisses me off as well!

This is why I unsub from his channel.

Yeah I feel his theories have been lackluster and he has to stop doing the side shit he's doing on his channel and get back to real theory work, i didn't mind the FNAF vides but the latest ones weren't very good. But overall his theories havent been very satisfying.

"Why is he making so many 5NAF videos???" Proceeds to explain that they are his most popular. My guy, you answered your own question lol dudes making bread off them 8-year-olds

Idk, I have mixed feelings about this, I can see where you are coming from but I feel like you're also exaggerating a few points here like him taking criticism. I feel he isn't that awful when it comes to criticism, but that may just be how I see it. As for videos being longer, I can't really blame him for doing that because he's trying to build this brand and he has a good amount of people he has to pay and everything, not saying he's struggling when it comes to money, but ever since the Apocalypse happened you gotta make sure you're able to pay who's helping you keep the channel stable, so to me him making longer videos with mildly humorous jokes spread throughout makes sense to me, but to me there is no arguing when saying the old Game Theory had a great charm to it that the new Game Theory doesn't have and maybe that's because of MatPats attention being spread to other projects like Film Theory and the countless meetings he has to go through and the fact that the guy is constantly busy now. Maybe that's the reason the videos are like they are now, I think they're still good, just not as good as his older stuff when he was around a million subs or so.

I really dislike how they pretend to be science nerds, no you don't need a science degree to analyze FNAF, stop pretending to you're a genius, ESPECIALLY that Austin guy with the annoying voice, he's so pretentious

I mean the old episodes were a little better as with most things but he's still a great YouTuber. Don't judge.

Careful now, Optimus. I noticed that you said that you couldn't even make it through the first 4 minutes of a video and that you heard about a controversy secondhand and put it in your video without researching it in-depth first. While you still raised good points (and I like that you acknowledged the above problems instead of remaining silent about them and potentially making a fool of yourself), I fear that those two issues will be latched onto by opponents of your argument, and your argument as a whole might suffer greatly because of them.

There was a point where he introduced some pretty solid theories, but as you said ever since Fnaf nearly half his content is just pointless yammering.

Ok not to hate on this video cuz I like the game Theorists but…

Not all his vids are Fnaf and undertale. He made pokemon,kindergarten, splatoon, and more.

The thick skin/refuting point is pretty stupid. Mat's on an AMA to have a good time. Even though the question was popular, it comes from a negative place.

Also, focusing on one specific game is not bad. It brings consistency. It's like another YouTuber creating a series. Generally when they start a new kind of video, they'll force it out the ass and then move into other stuff. That's exactly what GT did.

My problem with game theory is austin.

Overall i dont think the quality has changed much but matt likes to have other people on his channel for their own videos which is fine. Goomba and others make quality content as well and if im not in the mood i can skip it because it has a different name.

Except that austin mother fucker. As a thumbnail it seems just like normal game theory but whatever expectations i have going in turn to anger because some ADD thinks he is funny mother fucker jumps on and goes "oH HAAi itsh mEEEE AuStiN"

If that guy just made it apparent that i was not getting game theory but Austins bullshit i would be fine, i would be more accepting of watching his content or i would easily ignore it without issue.

The problem I have with Game Theory is that it’s not even Game theory anymore. You get 1 game theory every like 6 videos because of the culture shock and other miniseries shit.
