New details about the final season of Game of Thrones have emerged from one of the long-running fantasy show’s stars.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister on the HBO show, has revealed that filming for the eighth and final season will begin in October.
Speaking to Collider, Coster-Waldau let slip that the cast will soon be back at work.
‘I knew what was going to happen for the first three seasons. After that, it’s been a season at a time,’ he revealed.
‘You get the scripts a month before we start shooting, or six weeks, and then you know what’s going to happen that season.
‘But, I don’t know what’s going to happen next season. We go back in October, so maybe in the next few weeks, we’ll get the scripts and I’ll find out. I’m very curious.’
The final season of Game of Thrones will be the shortest to date, with only six episodes set to be made.
While details about the nature of those final installments are scarce, there were reports back in June that each episode in season eight will be feature-length.
Whatever happens, it’s the start of the long goodbye for Game of Thrones.
