  1. The Hobbits actually conquered the rest of Middle Earth after the events recounted in Return of the King. It's clear they were the most technologically advanced race in Middle Earth. In the books they appear to be living in a pre-industrial period while the rest of Middle Earth is in the deep Middle Ages. The Hobbits determined not to suffer the way they did during the War of the Ring and protected by the prohibition of men from the Shire work with the Dwarves to develop new military technology in self defence. Eventually, minor conflicts with their neighbours escalate into major conflicts. The Hobbits win hands down and within two hundred years all of Middle Earth is theirs. Under their benign rule everyone has tea and biscuits at four o'clock in the afternoon. Hobbits rule.

  2. What would have happened if instead of starting Frodo on his journey and doing the whole fellowship thing, Gandalf took the ring west to the ocean, got a ship and begun sailing. Get a few hundred miles out and throw the ring overboard.
Now, you've pretty much guaranteed Sauron will never die, since the ring is basically out of reach forever, but you've also guaranteed he'll never get his hands on it.
It would have been a good last resort plan if you were pretty sure Sauron was about to get it.

  3. I would try to use the rings to make magic live longer. I mean the elves have so much beauty and amazingness and then you see the humans fighting over things so small that elves sometimes don't even contemplate the idea of fighting for those petty things. I know I would probably get corrupted and killed within 500 years give or take but I wouldn't care, magic is worth it.

  4. It’s not necessarily a lie that you could use the Ring to overthrow Sauron and take over the world. The Ring grants power in proportion to the power of its wielder, so it is conceivable that someone like Gandalf could take over the world with it, as he with the Ring would be greater than Sauron without it. But it would invariably corrupt him, even if he started with the best of intentions.
