  1. I’m loving these rereads, guys. Well done. One thing I’m finding upon rereading is a gap between George’s skills at writing men and writing women. The Daenerys POVs feel canned and I find myself cringing often over the language, especially when compared to the early Jon, Tyrion, and Ned chapters. Maybe that’s why female characters like Cersei are so much more compelling in the show whereas the characterizations of Jon and Tyrion lose something in the adaptation from book to TV- there’s simply more depth there to be lost.

  2. Great idea – I mean, everyone is doing these re-reads (I wish some would start at the end and work backwards) – but due to your unique take of comparing to history this will be very valuable (also entertaining)

  3. Lovely lecture guys. There are two aspects I especially appreciated: Once how you highlight the complexity of the world we are entering in these opening chapters. The other one is how you dig into Daenerys' Psyche. Funnily enough I think it's great that you did it in a certain "male" way, empathic but still analytically. I couldn't have done this. When I re-read this chapter, I couldn't distance myself from the character, I was pulled back into my own past as a young teenager and the mere thought of being handled as an object by these men filled me completely with awe and terror and I lost many details of her analysis of the different characters. Well done!

  4. Great videos guys. I love the re-read. I find myself getting as anxious waiting for the next re-read video as I do waiting for Him to release the next novel. I recently went back and re-read all the books myself in preparation for Winds of Winter and I would recommend that all fans do this. I found so many details that I missed the first time, especially after having watched all of the theory and analysis videos on great channels just like this. Keep up the good work!

  5. Hi GOT Academy, Im David, im from VietNam. We like guns, may i ask why there no guns in game of thrones. Their timeline is 14th century, their architecture is 100 time more than us but why don't they invented gun powder to fight dragon, instead of Quyburn boring Crossbow, thank you, love your channel, been subscribe since you have 40k subscribers
