Maxim Novoselov is a former European combat sambo champion
who could have potentially made his mark in the world of combat
sports if it was not for his two prison terms. Details on Novoselov
case are difficult to obtain as Russian sources are difficult to interpret, but it appears that after serving in the military, Maxim was sentenced to prison for the first time, allegedly for murder for 14 years . Maxim called his first time
in prison “a mistake” in an interview to the Russian tabloids.
After release in 2004, became the captain of the national combat
sambo team and was a self-defense trainer for a number of wealthy
Russian celebrities. A number of years later though, Novoselov was charged with cocaine trafficking and sentenced again for 3 years.
