Could you do Everything Wrong with The Lighting Thief ?
so i'm also attempting to write my own musical, but truthfully i have no idea where to start, and so far i've just been brainstorming ideas for the past while, I have a set premise that i want to go for but other than that, i'm lost. So i don't know if you'd be willing to make a video on that? or even just being up for a conversation on some other social media? haha
I saw The Met Opera do La Boheme and my view of rent was changed a lot.
Awesome video as always. I used to write off Penzance, but maybe now I'll give it a try.
I have a love-hate relationship with Rent in that I really can appreciate some of the songs musically and what not like they are catching and I appreciate the real LGBT representation. But everything I dislike about it can be summarized in Lindsay Ellis' video about it. They're awful people and don't try to change the system or do something with the privilege they have (cough cough MARK cough) or how they don't appreciate what they have (again MARK) like hating their parents for just wanting to make sure theyre doing okay!!!
Touch Me is probably my second favourite musical song of all time, right behind Old Souls from Phantom of the Paradise.
Why is this a two parter ?
Yes yes yes please give me reasons to not see rent because I'm dieing because my parents refuse to buy me the expensive tickets
its the only good show to actually come to Not-Seattle WashingtonThis video inspired me to finally watch RENT (the movie version), and I really enjoyed it! 🙂
“Now why is this super old opera by two dudes that are super dead on my top ten?”
UHH DO WHATEVER YOU WANT IM SUPER DEAD
Thank you for the point made about comedy in Spring Awakening. The writer of the origial play it was based off of said that the play is more gripping with humor and that he felt the actors didn't find it funny enough.
sis i am 100% gonna check out the ones on here i haven't heard of cause they sound great ngl also nice bashing of the fasc per usual 👌
Seizing the day ALWAYS means you should seize the means of production.
Great list so far!
GIRL ASK OUT THAT CUTIE IN YOUR GENDER STUDIES CLASS!!
You should check out hadestown! I just started listen to it and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
SEIZE 👏 THE 👏 MEANS 👏 OF 👏 PRODUCTION my bro
if you haven't read it already there's a great book called 'Stage struck; theater, AIDS and the marketing of gay America' by Sarah Schulman
I wish there were more true more comedy roles for women, the vast majority of characters in shows are men and so few comedic women are out in shows. It’s frustrating
You're such a Broadway meme I love it
I'd say you should ask out that cutie in your gender studies class!! (also I'm really looking forward to part two of this video, because this was great! 😊)
I'm doing "when Fredrick was a little lad" for my grade 7 exam tomorrow! Im so nervous!
I think you'd really like Caroline or Change, music by Jeanine Tesori, lyrics and book by Tony Kushner, and starring Tonya Pinkins and young Anika Noni Rose
Rent to me is just a very half backed musical with tons of oversights and inconsistencies in the writing. Though I do tolerate it because there are people who are able to see something in it that I don't, and say that the show has helped them. Not to say that I don't care about the subject matter, (in fact I care very passionately about it) but I just don't see the show succeeding in it's execution. But if you love it and it has made you a better person having seen it, more power to you!!
Love you respecting the classics instead of acting like the contemporary ones are the only ones that matter
A Chorus Line is mY fAvOrAtE musical oF ALL tiME
I have such a love-hate relationship with Rent Ugh (thanks Lindsay Ellis )
I was in Pirates of Penzance for a theatre camp when I was younger, and it was my first named role! I played Ruth and it was super fun !!
