I liked the Dornish.  They were far more likeable and less devious than all the other families highlighted in the show.  I guess that doesn't make for good drama though.

Theoretically speaking we don't know that Ellaria is necessarily dead. Yara is alive as a prisoner of war, perhaps Ellaria is alive as a prisoner of war. Cersei did say "If you refuse to eat, we'll force food down your throat" so it seems likely that she wanted Ellaria to live, to extend the suffering. I highly doubt she would be able to make some sort of escape, but you never know

Actress Indira Varma confirmed she won't be in season 8 so I think it's safe to presume she's dead.

I am not ashamed to recognize that she is one of my favorite characters, I know, she is a crazy irrational murderous bitch, but there is something about Indira Varma (the actress who plays her) that is so fascinating, so magnetic, she is sexy, emotional and dangerous.

Ellaria wanted to avenge Oberyn and all the Martells who were wrong by the Lannisters, she wanted to destroy them, however, the only person who could declare war on the Lannisters is a weak man sitting in a wheelchair. Ellaria is so desperate to avenge her lover and Dorne that she decides to take power and declare war on the Lannisters herself, but of course, she made some miscalculations and now house Martell is extinct, all her family is dead, and now she is trapped in a cell, watching her daughter die and decompose, contemplating all the choices she has made. Brilliant story arc.

Overall, the dornish plot wasn’t that bad (I still prefer the dornish plot by miles but I understand why D&D did what they did and I respect it) it evolved around the character of Ellaria (the only interesting character in Dorne along with Oberyn, because oh man, the Sand snakes were useless af), in my opinion, one of the most dynamic and interesting characters in Westeros.
