There is probably no prince who was promised prothrcies are so cliche and is like he is the chosen one it would be better if someone made there own destiny
If your theory is true (and I believe it is), Aegon is either a bastard, because Rhaegar and Lyana were not married (which would explain why his patrons would lie about his mother), or Rhaegar married Lyana as well as Elia, being polygamous. The reason I would see for Varys and the rest to lie in favor of a Blackfyre while there were legit Targaryens kicking around, is because Varys has chosen him in particular to be king. Viserys and Daenerys both resemble the mad king more than they do Rhaegar, and Aegon is just like Rhaegar.
I'm not really sure if you mentioned it already or if it's part of later part but I think I recall reading that Gryff dyed his hair blue in honour of his mother who was from some place or some such. But if he's Lyanna's son, that's actually true, because of her connection with the blue roses of winter?
Idk why but that In Memorium shit was funny af
Hey there Order of the Green Hand. I love all your videos and tend to agree with what you say. I just wanted bring up something that I was thinking about. We all know the GRRM puts a lot of thought into the names of his characters… Now, if this is true, no character is named by chance (they all have meanings). You have spoken about this a number of times, but you haven't yet mentioned Jon Connington. I feel like his name gives us a clue as to who Aegon really is…
The name Connington is made up of the words "con" and "ington". Con is obvious. It means to deceive or to trick. Ington on the other hand, literally means "people of a certain town". However, some historians believe that when "ton" is used in a surname it could be a barstadization of "son". So Connington could translate to "person of the trickster son".
This obviously means Aegon's persona is a deception and he is not truly Aegon the son of Elia… but it doesn't really point to him being a Blackfyre or the son of Lyanna (it fits both). But, considering that Connington was the Lord of Griffins Roodt, and that Griffins are symbolic of loyalty (even after death), nobility, wisdom, strength, trickery and mystery, I like to think that your theory is correct. That Aegon is Rhaegar's son by Lyanna, that Connington knows this and that he is remaining loyal to Rhaegar by protecting his son and grooming him for kingship.
So are you guys saying that there are two Aegons? r+e= a and r+l=A
100% confirmed! R+L=A
HAHAHA TOLD YOU
The order of the Green Hand if this false Aegon is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, which seems likely, two questions:
1. Why would his company (who trusts him the most and vice versa) tell him he was the Aegon switched at birth and not tell him about his true parentage. At this point he's a secret to the world anyway no matter who his real mother is.
2. What would his real name be? Surely, Rhaegar wouldn't have named both sons Aegon?
Have just come across your channel, and your theories are interesting – backed up by facts. One thing I'm confused, though, you said in another vid that the TOJ scene was merely a meeting place and that R+L were in the crypts. Why did you, in the beginning, pose the question who was actually born in the TOJ if L was not actually there? Thanks and more power to your channel.
With all the nonsense fan service shown by the show, have you guys changed your mind at all?
I wish we had Young Griff in the series. 🙁
Uhh obviously wrong now xD
Y'all are crazy. Varys clearly stated to Ned that he could've saved him from the dungeons but he wouldn't. In the same speech he cited the fact he had no weapons, no army, no true local protection from Cersei if she suspected him of treachery. What do you think Aerys would've done to Varys if he suspected him of treachery? That's why IT MAKES SENSE that Varys could only save a baby Aegon before the sack of the city. Rhaenys was already recognizable and she wasn't Rhaegar's heir so Aegon is more important and not as recognizable. If a mother is faced with a choice of choose one child to save or let both die, what mother wouldn't save at least one of her kids? You guys need to lay off that green hand you're smoking on.
But why isn't he shown in the tv show?
You guys are awesome for responding to your comments!! Abudanzaa!!
Another great job. Thanks.
But one thing I don't understand: was Elia already dead when R+L conceived A or at least dead before A was born?
I confess to my ignorance of the time lines despite watching all the shows and being on my 3rd trip through the Audible versions of GRRM's books.
If so, were R & L married after Elia's death so A would be a true heir and not just another bastard?
Or doesn't his status matter because he's R's only surviving child?
The more I think about this theory, the more it makes sense. I certainly wouldn't have come to those conclusions by myself, great job!
Question so who idea to name this boy Aegon? R+L=A the same name Rheagar's first son had?. With Elia Martell?
OOTGH~~~I enjoy your channel greatly— videos are put together well, all points are very sound and supported with a high level of detail—you make every video clear and concise for the viewer/listener, and both of you are very easy to listen to. I would assume a decent amount of time and effort goes into your theories as is evident based on the quality of the video. With that being said, how are you going to feel if all of your theories are proven wrong?? I know the TV show plays no influence on your position (for the most part), but if the continued book series disproves all of your theories, thoughts and opinions will it be a disappointment to you, not only for the hard work you put into the channel, but also I&F as a book series? My imagination is shit, and could never come up with the theories you have touched base on, I just think I would be totally bummed if the story took a completely different path. So I wanted to gauge your thoughts, either way. I look forward to your response. NOTE: This is not a "poke at you" or "you suck" message, you both rock, the channel rocks, my inquiring mind just wants to know. Thanks!!
i think this theory is good but unlikely.
why is the boy call aegon firstly, his dead older half brother, why pretend to have a different mother.
also in a recent video of the secrets of the citadel she references a reading of a adod sample chapter where tyrion overhears Illyrio speaking to Griff in Valyrian, as Tyrions high V is rusty he doesn't get every word except for queen, sword and something else i can't remember.
i believe that the sword that was mentioned is Blackfyre hence young griff being a blackfyre and the mummers dragon but then again maybe that's tooooo obvious
The problem with a LOT of your theories, is you have to assume what thing to start the theory going, and if that ONE thing happens to not be the case, the whole theory falls apart like a castle built from playing cards. If Varys could only get 1 child in the time needed, it does make sense why he only saved one. If the mother was NOT in on it at all, than her acting would not be acting at all. It DOES make sense, more so then your theory does in a lot of ways. Whether your theory is right, the commonly held beliefs that many believe is right, or if in fact there is a 3rd theory that is actually the case, only time will tell. I wonder if your theories only apply to the books and not the show though, as the show is getting further and further ahead of the books in many storylines, will you feel your theories are still valid if the HBO version shows more of them to be incorrect, such as Jon Snow being the child of Lyanna and Rhaegar?
Use better mic guys. Great content though
I heard a theory once that someone believed that there was a baby switch like the one you are describing but with it being Danny and not Aegon. I think your point seem very valid and I don't disagree but clearly in the book there are points that show Danny's past is not what she was told (red door, lemon trees) in the theory I heard they suggested that quaithe was actually ashara dayne. I guess what I am getting at is who do you think Quaithe is and why does she have such an interest in Danny. Do you have a guess as to what their connect is and why Danny remembers lemons and a red door?
The Order of the green hand: *If you could please answer my question, I would really appreciate it! I know this has nothing to do with your video, but you guys are so knowledgeable & I see you've been responding to people.*-When Arya escapes Harren Hall, Jaqen H'ghar tells her she can cross names off her list if she trains with him. But when she goes to Braavos, he tells her she doesn't get to choose who dies, etc. I haven't read the books yet, do you know something I don't. I've watched 100's of YouTube videos & no one ever even mentions this contradiction!
It's still people who believe the Earth is flat
Amazing theory! Love your channel, but would you consider that Aegon may be a blackfyre?
I have to point out that it would be less likely for Lord Varys or anyone else to believe that he could successfully save Princess Elia and both her babies (too many people equals too great a risk). It was likely strategically reasoned that if he could save the heir to the Iron Throne in Infant Prince Aegon and sacrifice Princess Elia and her daughter to further the deception and increase the likelihood for success then he would do just that "for the good of the Realm" and perhaps even with the blessing of Princess Elia herself. Remember "The White Queen" on Starz network??? Queen Elizabeth saved one of her sons and ultimately sacrificed the other one in the deception at Westminster Abbey by using an imposter. Lord Varys believes Aegon is Young Griff as does Lord Connington in "Dance of Dragons". I like your point on Prince Doran not being included in the plot of the "Shy Maid" if there was such a secret plan to care and protect his sister's son . . . I think the answer is that Septa Lemore is an agent of Sunspear just as Halfmaester Haldyon is an agent of Winterfell because she is the mother of Tyne Sand and Prince Oberyn's former paramour. So Prince Doran is indeed in on this secret plan if that proves to be the case. I don't know where Lady Ashara Dayne is but I do believe she is alive in the book series somewhere (Quaithe?) I don't think she is Septa Lemore though
A lot of assumptions…and you know what they say about assuming things. I do agree with some of your points but an infant with similar features would be significantly easier to switch then all the children, plus she would still be fighting for the lives of the other children that were hers, that were in her presence at the red keep, making the struggle to save them very believable, even if Aegon was not the infant.
i love hearing a new theoryscape. youve taken the books and made an entirely new take where pov characters are deceptive to the reader.
thats a new one to me but its interesting. im going to watch the whole series
I enjoy this idea a lot it's a good theory. To be completely honest I do think you are missing a few key points that need to be addressed. I.E. the thought that young griff is actually a Blackfrye. Why Ned would keep secret who his child was when it has nothing to do with the Targaryens which would have gotten jon killed but as a love between Ned and Ashara that is nothing. Also the prophecy Dany hears of 3 heads to the dragon and one false head do we just ignore the false head or throw it on Visaryes who was dead at the time? And the last one that gets to me is why would Bloodraven so dead set on saving humanity that he left them to go find the truth and then bring Bran to teach him how to save the world why would that man work with the Children if they are evil?
Isn't that a quite anti climactic answer to the question who's the baby in the tower? And why bring such an important character so late in the game?
why didn't they tell Aegon that his parents were r and l? what would be the point of making him think he was elia's son?
Great job as usual. Slightly off topic question. Do you think they will cover any of the SHY MAID events on the show? To me that sequence is kinda pivotal and needs to be included. What's your opinion? Thank You
