  1. I'm sorry Joe didn't like the episode, but I think he is exaggerating. The problems with this episode (illogical plot, lack of George RR's guidance) are the same with the problems of this entire season. If he hates this episode, why doesn't he hate S07 Ep2? It's completely illogical that Daenerys doesn't launch a full assault with all her forces on the red keep in episode 2. The only real reason she doesn't attack is the show runners want to stretch GOT to 8 seasons, so they were stalling. This writing in episode 7 was better than any episode this season.

  2. Does anyone else feel like Tyrion is playing Dany? I mean the bad battle plans which places Dany at a disadvantage, asking he about her successors, suggesting going to go get a wight to show cersi?? To me it seems like Tyrion has been trying to get rid of all of Dany's allies. That's why he didn't want her to go rescue Jon, because he wanted them to die. So then the set up could be Dany gets imprisoned or killed. I fully expect her entire army to get bombarded with wildfire bombs and have scorpion bolts targeted on both dragons as soon as they show up, game over for dany… thanks to Tyrion. And he was just asking who she wanted to succeed her just so he knew what other threats there were so they could target them too. Just a theory, I just hate to think all that shit happend and went badly just cause Tyrion "underestimated" things.

  3. +Phil TheIssuesGuy RE: Making sense of the dumbest plot since the Sand Snakes – capturing a Wight to convince Cersei… CERSEI!

Jon surviving and being "reborn" from the lake is a fulfillment of the Azor Ahai prophecy. Everyone, rightfully so, is hung up how ridiculous this mission of in-westerous bastards was. Consider: the visions to the mountain shaped like an arrow, at the place where the Night King was created, Bran giving just enough info to tell Jon where to go even though Bran knows all… There is a much greater purpose to going there with all these main characters than to capture a Wight, even though none of the viewers or characters know.

We have to look at the actual result. (1) We get the 3rd head of the dragon: Night King (ice), Danny (fire), Jon (ice and fire) (2) We get Jon being reborn, surviving the ice water and cold, because he's a Wight of the Lord of Light (3) We get the champion, as Jon kills another White Walker, and the revelation that if you kill the WW, the Wights it controls cease to be animated. The champion now has all the knowledge he needs (dragonglass,
valyrian steel, fire, kill the WW and you kill the Wights…etc) to defeat the Night King (4) Danny sees Jon as her champion, and we solidify their relationship to make whoopie (5) Danny is supposedly barren, unable to give birth, her womb stone… were she to get prego from Jon, it would be a stone dragon – again fulfillment of the Azor Ahai prophecy. (6) The Night King now has a way to get over The Wall, and a champion is now more important than ever.

So while the stated premise for this mission impossible is so painfully idiotic – in the context of Azor Ahai, it makes a lot of sense. P.S. If the Night King can skinchange into Viserion, which is how they control the Wights, and dead bears, horses, and giants (oh my)… then so can Bran. "But you will fly."

  4. Dragons burn shit. It''s what they do. What do you expect them to do? Dany is supposed to stop using them as weapons so as not to repeat herself? You will see more of it, so prepare to be disappointed again i guess. i personally can't get enough of it, i found this one even more impressive to watch than the caravan attack. We've been waiting for dragons to burn the dead for years, well here is was. I had to dry my eyes after that scene.

  5. Tyrion will be a dragon-rider alongside Daenerys in the final battle; Jon Snow (Aegon Targaryen) is a better swordsman and will fight on the ground.

  6. So my daughter walked in on this at the beginning…she is 15. For reference, i have shown both my teens (I have a 17 yo too.) all the battle scenes from GOT because they are cool. She was unimpressed totally. And she also wanted to know how the heck did they manage to get that dragon out of the water with just undead zombies. It was not a good episode for action, either. It seemed like recycled material in some parts.

  7. With Jon fucking around so much instead of fucking getting on the dragon, I wanted it to be 'his dragon' that died. Make him pay the price for wanting to play the hero some more instead of gto. Granted, that may also come from the fact that I really don't want Jon to ride a dragon anyhow because I think if he does that, Ghost is toast (unless someone tapes him to a dragon in battle).
Granted, given that his name sake died from burning gold, it was a cool visual for Viserion with the gold scales to burst aflame.

  8. Why didn't they just let Jorah fall? Or do we have to have another wasted scene of yet another cringy friend zone goodbye…the payoffs I expected didn't happen. Quite disappointed with the story this season…too rushed.D and D should have been replaced 2 seasons ago..when they got tired of it.

  9. I'm on Joes side. Weakest episode ever. Gendry fast as The Flash, ravens fast as WhatsApp and dragons fast as jets. Jon going on a rampage instead of flying away or killing the Night's King with dragon fire. And where did the wights get those massive chains from ??????

  10. Another plot hole I found is that they should have walked over the ice and kill the team of people in the middle immediately.

The leaders have the power to create ice and lower the temperature to the point of turning off fire, even create weapons made of ice that are hard enough to act like steel. Why didn't they do that with the lake so that the zombies could walk over it?

  11. I actually thought that the banter was the worst part of the episode. Had they cut it down a bit that would have given more screen time to Arya/Sansa or Dany/Jon conversation and stories. They maybe wouldn't have felt as rushed.
