It’s been said that everything we need to know about where this story is going is hidden in the text of the first book. So here goes – an in-depth exploration of a Game of Thrones chapter-by-chapter, let’s see what we can find!

I wonder if being a "dragon" is a bit like being a warg. There have been many Starks over the years, but only a few were wargs. Perhaps only some Targaryens are true dragons and therefore are more heat proof than their relatives. Jon is a Targaryen, but he is not a dragon in the same way Daenerys is. My guess is that being a dragon is linked to one's ability to ride or hatch dragons.
Can't wait for the next one.
Thanks Gemma!
note: I know they've confirmed r+l=J in the show, but grrm has stated this isn't true for the books so…
I don't think jon is a Targ. That being said, him being burned doesn't disqualify him. He thew a lantern full of oil into the curtain, then grabbed it. I'm sure the pitch stuck to his hand afterwards, based on the severity of the wounds he suffered.
Also note the similarities drawn between Arya and Jon in the following Jon chapter: learning the use of his left hand (Arya's a lefty with Syrio's instructions).
HAPPY 2018!! First video of the year!! Wish I would have seen the trivia videos early enough to use them at a NYE party, would have been better than the game we played from the 80's, lol!!
excellent, just read this chapter today
I had a hard day today, and this is the perfect thing to relax to. As always, thank you Gemma, you're the best <3
You are so great!! I live for these <3
Thank you, Gemma 💗💗
WHAT IF: Joffrey spares Ned and he takes the black?
That seems like a great video idea haha. Pls make it.
This series is so damn good
Alliser annoys me. I mean I like how they changed his character a little in the show to let us sympathies with him but in the books he is just a twep
Why does John burning his hand throw confusion on R+L=J?
Great video as always Thank you Gemma for being here through the long night 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What I love about you is your genuine love and passion. You put so much work into these videos, yet you're so humble and not pretentious at all. You also know how to read, which is a great quality when doing videos and podcast of this kind (text reading). Your soothing voice is a great bonus also. I never get tired with your videos.
Thank you so much.
The Mormonts are so badass.
I'm sorry – your videos are interesting, but goddamn it the soundtrack is just so distracting… usually, I'll tolerate it, but I can't get past the 4 min mark on this one. Also, I thanked the Seven when you seemed to be tuning it down a bit with the intros, but here we are again. I like your analysis, you got a neat community around this channel, love the chemistry and all – but some of your embellishments are just too much for me
Yay I was so excited for another chapter!!
Why is this a playlist?
I actually laughed out loud when you decided to throw a spoiler alert on the fact of Othor being a wight.
Jon to Arya in Chapter 7: "Joffrey is truly a little shit."
Fast-forwarding to Chapter 52: Jon knew that other men accused of treason had been allowed to redeem their honor on the Wall in days past. Why not Lord Eddard? His father here. That was a strange thought, and strangely uncomfortable. It would be a monstrous injustice to strip him of Winterfell and force him to take the black, and yet if it meant his life …
And would Joffrey allow it? He remembered the prince at Winterfell, the way he'd mocked Robb and Ser Rodrik in the yard. Jon himself he had scarcely even noticed; bastards were beneath even his contempt. "My lord, will the king listen to you?"
The Old Bear shrugged. "A boy king … I imagine he'll listen to his mother. A pity the dwarf isn't with them. He's the lad's uncle, and he saw our need when he visited us. It was a bad thing, your lady mother taking him captive—"
"Lady Stark is not my mother," Jon reminded him sharply. Tyrion Lannister had been a friend to him. If Lord Eddard was killed, she would be as much to blame as the queen.
If Sam wasn't so squeamish he'd make a good crime scene investigator
Do you think that we may see Jon emerge from a fire unscathed in the final part of the story? I know, “Jon’s hands were burned.” People have pretty much counted him out as being fire resistant since that part of the book/show. Dany also had her hands burned (and maybe her feet) in the books too. (First flight escape with Drogon). Could it be that maybe those parts of the body are more sensitive to the fire or maybe has something to do with will power/intent? Kind of like how the fire walkers use their state of mind to walk across the hot coles?
I just think it wouldn’t be really amazing and very unexpected for fans to see that Jon, being a child of fire and ice, had the powers to withstand both elements as he has already proved the Ice part. Not to mention it would be great to see a naked Jon Snow one last time. 😃😍😂❤️❄️🔥
Another wonderful video. I love this series and I hope you continue it through the other books.
I don't know why Jon gets so many questions about his burn here when Daenerys gets burns as well. We know that Targaryens are not fire proof just have a extreme high tolerance. Also of you look at it from the POV of Jon and his death rebirth or however it will go exactly in the books but I imagine similar to the point of waking his dragon side as it seems to have more on the show. That could also play into it. I sometimes see him early on as his Ice side more, cold and later on the Fire in him starts to come out as the story progress. Lovely as Always Gemma ♥️ Hope your day is warm. I'm freezing my ass off in Florida! 😆🔥🔥❄️
How come we never learn what house Daynes words are but know a lot of non important house words??!!??
Hay, did you notice in Jon next chapter after this one, it was littered with clues and foreshadowing about who his real parents are
love these chapters! thanks so much, I do so look forward to these videos!!
Fantastic as always Gemma. Happy new year 🎊
Amazing work as always.
