Welcome to a supersized edition of WiC Live, our weekly chat show where we talk about all things Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire. It’s supersized because we took last week off, during which time approximately ALL the news broke. Basically, we discuss wall to wall spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8 — spoilers from Iceland, spoilers from Winterfell, spoilers from King’s Landing — and there are other spoilers that broke after we filmed this. The production is back in full swing, and there was a lot to cover. Between all of them, I think a timeline of events for season 8 is taking shape.
We also discuss the news that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss will be helming a series of Star Wars movies after Game of Thrones is over. Is this a cause for celebration, or is it too much of a good thing?
After that, we have a new episode of A Song of Dan Josh, the ongoing series where Josh Hill and I walk through the A Song of Ice and Fire novels chapter by chapter, breaking each down and seeing how they fit into the greater story. This series is still in its early days — this week, we discuss two chapters from A Game of Thrones: Jon IV, aka the one where Sam shows up, and Eddard VI, in which Ned Stark unknowingly inches closer to death as he untangles the mystery of who killed Jon Arryn.
Next week, we’ll tackle Catelyn V and Sansa II, where the plot really starts heating up. To see us live, head to the Winter is Coming Facebook page at 4:00 p.m. on this upcoming Wednesday!
