Iwan Rheon is happy to leave behind his Game Of Thrones character behind.
Iwan played Ramsay Bolton, arguably the show’s nastiest villain to date (although Euron Greyjoy seems to be gunning for that title these days).
He met a grisly end in season six after Sansa Stark released the hounds, and now the actor is moving on from Westeros to the West End in a new play called Foxfinder.
After Misfits, Game Of Thrones made Iwan more of a household name, but he admitted that he wasn’t sad to leave the villainous role behind.
During an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, presenter Kate Garraway said Iwan’s character left her ‘traumatised’.
‘It was one of the only roles to genuinely give me nightmares,’ she added.
‘He wasn’t a very nice young man’, Iwan joked, ‘I’m kind of glad to put him behind me now.’
Having had such a varied career, with parts in a sitcom, on TV and in films, Iwan was asked which one he found the hardest to film.
Iwan said: ‘They all have their own challenges and disciplines so I like to mix it up as much as possible.
‘The studio sitcom has its own challenges because it’s its own medium.’
Iwan appears in Foxfinder from 6 September at the Ambassadors Theatre.
Actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa, recently teased that fans would see her character become a ‘warrior’ in the final season.
In a video interview with Gold Derby, Turner said: ‘I always saw something of a warrior in Sansa that I don’t think other people really saw.
‘I always had the feeling that she was learning and adapting, and at some point or another, it was going to manifest itself somehow, and she manifested it into being a warrior.
‘It felt really satisfying when it happened, and I’m really happy where this storyline for her has ended up.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6.30am on ITV
