Game of Thrones season eight is gearing up to be the biggest television event of 2019.
Fans are desperate to see how the whole show will end, and there will be more than a few surprises in store for viewers – one potentially involving the birth of another Lannister.
Back in season seven, Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) was supposedly pregnant.
She tells her brother, Jaime Lannister (Nicolaj Coster-Waldau), that she is pregnant, yet it was taken with a pinch of salt.
However, a leaked season seven script seems to have revealed that Cersei was telling the truth.
The script reads: “She nods, it’s true. [. . .] Her happiness is contagious.”
“They get another chance at a family. This time with no one standing in their way.”
Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), later deduces Cersei’s secret and she is apparently taken aback by his astuteness.
The script makes it clear that Tyrion finding out wasn’t part of her plan.
“Tyrion sees what he sees and knows what it means,” the script reveals.
“He can hardly believe it, but knows it to be true. [. . .]
“She stays silent for too long, long enough to tell him that he’s right.
“And once she knows he knows, she can think of nothing else to say.”
The storyline in the script ends there, and there’s no suggestion of what’s to come.
The birth of another Lannister could prove to be a rather important event in the battle for the Iron Throne.
However, the child’s legitimacy would be put into question because it would clearly not be related to Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy).
There are a whole lot of possibilities as to what the pregnancy could lead to.
One possible outcome could be Cersei realising their legitimacy to the throne will be put into question, and therefore she could end up siding with Danaerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in their battle against the Night King and his Army of the Dead.
Cerise could also flee King’s Landing entirely in order to protect her newborn child.
Yet, all could change if the fan theories prove to be true and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) turns out to be the Night King.
Game of Thrones season eight returns to HBO Spring 2019, and the prequel is expected to debut a year later in 2020.
