It might not be the trailer we’ve been patiently waiting for, but the millisecond of new Game Of Thrones in the HBO highlights gives a major spoiler for Season 8.
The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip of this year’s final visit to Winterfell sees Sansa Stark and Daenerys Targaryen meeting for the first time.
Just like fans predicted, the Mother of Dragons appears to have traveled to the North where she’ll come face-to-face with Sansa in front of Jon Snow.
In an epic twist, Sansa tells Daenerys in a surprisingly calm fashion that Winterfell is her’s, which seems to suggest the storm is yet to come.
At the end of Season 7, viewers learned that Jon is not, in fact, Sansa’s bastard half-brother.
Actresses Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) and Sophie Turner (Sansa) were first spotted on the Belfast set together back in October, hinting at their potential first meeting.
We now see Brienne of Tarth, guarding Lady Stark, and behind Khaleesi, Ser Jorah Mormont, as the characters face-off for the first time, as part of a longer teaser clip for HBO’s 2019 shows.
On the forthcoming season, actress Sophie recently hinted: ‘This season is bloodier than ever. It’s full of betrayal, full of war, full of danger. That’s all I can say without giving too much away.’
Entertainment Weekly previously claimed that Season 8 would kick off with a ‘thrilling and tense intermingling of characters,’ therefore this is by no means a conclusion for Sansa and Daenerys.
A report in November read: ‘Season 8 opens at Winterfell with an episode that contains plenty of callbacks to the show’s pilot. Instead of King Robert’s procession arriving, it’s Daenerys and her army.
‘What follows is a thrilling and tense intermingling of characters —some of whom have never previously met, many who have messy histories—as they all prepare to face the inevitable invasion of the Army of the Dead.’
Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for the final season trailer to be released, in anticipation of the show’s arrival in April 2019.
