Dutch ‘Netherlands Second’ comedian (anonymously) creates Game of Thrones viral.
The trailer for ‘Westeros’, a Game of Thrones spinoff series set in modern times, turns out to be a creation by the Dutch late night tv-show Zondag met Lubach. Earlier this year, the show, hosted by comedian Arjen Lubach, was responsible for the viral video that introduced the Netherlands to US president Donald Trump, claiming: ‘if America is first, can we at least be second?’ The viral video was widely copied by other countries all over the world.
This weeks trailer for ‘Westeros’ was seen by millions of people on Youtube and Facebook and made it to several articles on websites like Vice, Digg and the UK Telegraph. In a second video, that was released today, the comedian reveals himself, stating: ‘I think I ended up in the wrong tv-series’, leaving the other ‘Westeros’ character confused.
The viral stunt is part of the promotion for a new season of Zondag met Lubach, starting september 10th on Dutch television network VPRO on NPO 3.
