The bloody scenes in “Game of Thrones” surely have given some viewers nightmares.
Now the author behind the hit HBO series is having a nightmare of his own, courtesy of his beloved Giants.
Martin, a Bayonne native, bemoaned the Giants’ trade of star receiver Odell Beckham on his blog in a post entitled “Kill Me Now.” It seems every Giants fan with a social media account is upset, but few are as famous as the 70-year-old Martin, whose fandom dates to the 1958 NFL Championship Game.
“I thought the last two seasons were rough for Giants fans,” Martin wrote. “Next year is going to make them look like the good old days. Someone pinch me. I am having a Big Blue nightmare.”
Browns’ Odell Beckham says goodbye to the Giants but forgets 1 very important group of people
The New York Giants traded wide receiver Odell Beckham to the Cleveland Browns for two draft picks and safety Jabrill Peppers.
The Giants traded Beckham and top pass-rusher Olivier Vernon to the Browns for a first-round pick, third-round pick, safety Jabrill Peppers and guard Kevin Zeitler.
“Beckham was not only the best receiver on today’s Giants, but he was the best receiver this storied NFL franchise has EVER had in their long history, and probably the best receiver they will ever have,” Martin wrote. “They are certainly not going to replace him with the 17th overall pick in the forthcoming draft.”
The Giants also let 25-year-old three-time Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins leave in free agency, where he received a six-year, $84 million contract from the rival Redskins. He likely will be replaced by 34-year-old three-time Pro Bowl safety Antoine Bethea in free agency.
“Some of the talking heads on ESPN are suggesting the Giants might package the sixth and 17th first-round picks to move up a few slots and take a QB to replace Eli Manning,” Martin wrote. “If they do, I feel sorry for that quarterback. He’ll be playing for an awful team.
He added, “It sure looks like the Giants are going for it all… they are going for the first overall (draft) pick in 2020.”
