Just like winter, the release date of Game of Thrones season eight is coming.

It is with a sense of both excitement and apprehension – we’ve had our hearts broken by this series before – that we await April 15, when the first episode of GOT season eight is set to air.

While the new and last series gives us a final chance to see our old favourite characters in action, we’re due to see a few fresh faces too.

So, without furhter ado, here’s everything we know so far about the new Game of Thrones cast members…

Alice Nokes – Willa

Alice Nokes, who you might remember as Courtney Mitchell from EastEnders, is down to play new character Willa.

We don’t know much about her yet, other than ‘Willa’ sounds quite similar to ‘Walder’, the cruel leader of the Frey family who met something of a sticky end at the hands of our girl Arya.

This could be significant because Walder had a habit of giving his kids and their kids names similar to his, so maybe Willa is a Frey?

Danielle Galligan – Sarra

Danielle, who’s previously been seen in the short film Strangers in the Park, will be playing a character called Sarra.

If we’re going by the books, the only character called Sarra to be found there is a Sarra Frey. Could the Frey women be taking centre-stage now that Arya has had her revenge on the men for their betrayal of her brother?

It’s worth noting however that the series has deviated from the GOT books in the past.

Indeed, the show is now further along the plot than the books even are, so the best we can do is have a guess.

Marc Rissmann – Harry Strickland, leader of the Golden Company

Marc Rissman is a German actor who has appeared in in The Last Kingdom and the 2018 film Overlord.

He’s also set to appear in season four of The Man in the High Castle as Wilhelm Goertzmann.

He’ll be appearing in Game of Thrones as Harry Strickland, the leader of the Golden Company – a formidable company of soldiers for hire who have never broken a contract

Frank Blake – Northern sentry

Frank Blake, who’s been in The Frankenstein Chronicles and the limited series Resistance, is down to play an as-yet nameless Northern sentry, about whom we, in the style of Jon Snow, known nothing.

Emer McDaid – role unknown

McDaid is a Northern Irish actress who’s acted primarily on the stage so far, and has also appeared in BBC Comedy’s Soft Border Patrol as Marie-Therese.

We have no idea who she’s set to play in Game of Thrones, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.
