Will Cersei win the Game Of Thrones? (Picture: HBO)

While we wait to finally learn the fate of many Game of Thrones characters, Cersei Lannister actor Lena Headey hints at a major early death.

It’s not unusual for characters to die in the hit HBO fantasy show – but it is always a matter of who, when, how and how heartbreaking it is.

As season eight creeps up on us, Lena hinted that her character does not meet Daenerys Targaryen’s famous dragons, Drogon and Rhaegal, in the final season which is set to premiere in the early hours of Monday.

Of course, alarm bells should be ringing for many die-hard Thrones fans at this point, mainly because we know during the very last episode of season seven – which was first aired in 2017 – Cersei met Danny and her huge pets in King’s Landing during a very tense meeting.

When asked by Virgin Radio’s Chris Evans for spoilers this morning, Lena, like every other actor on the show, kept her lips pretty sealed.

However, when asked if she would come face to face with the mythical creatures for the last season, she replied: ‘I do not meet a dragon.’

Does this mean either Cersei or Daenerys die early before the two can meet again with the dragons?

Or is Lena hinting at the fact the Dragon Queen’s last two remaining giant flying lizards do not survive their time in King’s Landing?

We’ve already seen how easily the Night King took down Viserion in the battle beyond the wall.

And now that the wall has been breached – and the King and his army of white walkers march into Westeros with a re-animated Viserion – how safe are Drogon and Rhaegal exactly?

It is very possible that Viserion takes down his former brothers in a battle now that he is under the spell of the icy ruler.

Either way, we can’t help but wonder if someone – or something – major has to be deceased for Cersei to not come across any dragons.

Of course, Lena may have been referring to herself and not Cersei because dragons aren’t real after all.

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on HBO on 14 April and will air on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on 15 April.
