The internet is dark and full of terrors and Kit Harington is not here for it.
Sunday’s Season 8 premiere of “Game of Thrones” captured record ratings – 17.4 million viewers – but received mixed reviews from dedicated fans. But, Harington isn’t worried about any criticism.
During Esquire’s May cover story, published Monday, the actor said he’s “quite defiant” about the HBO juggernaut as it enters its highly anticipated final season.
“I think no matter what anyone thinks about this season – and I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here – but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their (negative) judgement on it, in my head they can go (expletive) themselves,” Harington said.

The actor, who portrays Jon Snow, explained that detractors can’t invalidate what the show means to the cast and crew because Harington knows “how much work was put into this.”
“I know how much people cared about this. I know how much pressure people put on themselves and I know how many sleepless nights working or otherwise people had on this show,” Harington added. “Because they cared about it so much. Because they cared about the characters. Because they cared about the story. Because they cared about not letting people down.”
He said if people are disappointed by the final season, he can’t care, “because everyone tried their hardest.”
Harington said no one is a bigger fan of the show than the “GoT” family, adding “we’re kind of doing it for ourselves. That’s all we could do, really. And I was just happy we got to the end.”
