Last nightâs new episode of Game of Thrones, âA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,â is going over extremely well. Want to go behind the scenes? Check out the latest episode of âThe Game Revealedâ:
I wonder how long itâll be before I can hear Daniel Portman sing âJenny of Oldstonesâ without misting up.
The production touches on a lot of interesting stuff here, including:
- The Winterfell set is a full service 360-degree affair here, with total immersion for the actors.
- When Brienne speaks up for Jaime during his trial, actor Gwendoline Christie likens it to âa declaration of love.â
- There are dragonglass shards on top of the battlements. Crawl over that, you dead assholes.
- Art director Hauke Richter on designing the Winterfell library: âI wanted to make it look slightly different from all the libraries that weâve done before. You know, theyâre not great readers in Winterfell.â Also, did anyone notice the little direwolf heads lining the walls?
- Writer Bryan Cogman describes the disagreement between Sansa and Daenerys: âSansa thinks of the North in every way that Dany thinks of Westeros. The North is herâs. Itâs the Starksâ. Itâs theirs.â
- Lighting the Winterfell courtyard at night is hard. You know, the lighting did look better this week; too often itâs too dark.
- David Benioff, at least, is a fan of the big where Tormund shotguns a horn full of mead.
- And of course they talk about the bit where Jaime knights Brienne, because itâs the best part of the episode. Said Christie: âLiving your life exclusively for the well-being of others, in service of an idea greater than yourself. I am delighted that Brienne is recognized for that.â
Cogman summed it up best:Â âWhat I really wanted that episode to be was a love letter to the characters, because I love them so much.â We hear you!
Itâs a shame some of them are probably going to die when Episode 803 rolls around this Sunday. Time to batten down the hatches.
