Daenerys has turned her attention back to the Iron Throne now that the White Walkers have been dealt with.

Despite losing one of her dragons during the Great War, she still has two at her disposal including Drogon, her biggest and most powerful.

He is usually her chosen dragon when it comes to riding into battle and he is very protective of her, she also has her own way of communicating.

Dracarys is a word that fans have seen her use throughout the series to encourage the dragon to breath flames and burn her enemies.

Here is everything you need to know about what the word means and when it has been used in Game of Thrones.

What does dracarys mean?

Dracarys is a High Valyrian word which translates as ‘dragonfire’, and it is a language that is spoken fluently by Daenerys.

It is an old language that isn’t used much in the current Game of Thrones world, but it is still spoken by scholars, as well as by people in Essos and other areas east of Westeros.

Dany first uses the word when trying to train Drogon, one of her baby dragons, so that he can breathe fire and then cook his own meat.

We first see the power of the word when she says it while chained up by Pyat Pree in season two, it leads to her three dragons breathing fire and burning him alive.

A similar situation happens again in season three when Daenerys agrees to give a dragon to slave-trader Kraznys mo Nakloz in exchange for the Unsullied army.

When she is given control of the army she turns to her dragon, being held by Kraznys, and says ‘dracarys’ which leads the dragon to breath fire and incinerate him.

Daenerys continues to use the word throughout the series to instruct the Drogon to breath fire on her enemies.

Other incidents include in season seven when she said it to execute Randyll and Dickon Tarly after they both refused to kneel.

Most recently she used it to get Drogon to breath fire on the Night King during the Battle of Winterfell in season eight,
