While the Game of Thrones finale left a bitter taste in fans’ mouths, for the cast and crew it was closing the book on what will almost certainly be one of the most important chapters in their lives.

A new video, titled Last Day on Set, has surfaced revealing footage of all the key players from season eight wrapping up their final scenes and receving a huge thank you from showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.

It’s genuinely a hard watch for all as the likes of Kit Harington and Gwendoline Christie are visibly emotional when they’re handed their farewell gifts – a storyboard of their hero’s best scenes.

But for Sophie, who joined the Game of Thrones cast when she was just 13-years-old and grew up in front of our eyes as the fearless Sansa Stark, it was too much as she sobbed and sobbed during her long-awaited swansong.

‘The past nearly 10 years, it’s been unbelievable,’ she later explained. ‘It’s taken me from a child to an adult. I feel ready now – it’s been a training course for life.’

Since Game of Thrones ended, Sophie’s got married in Vegas, broken the box office in X-Men: Dark Phoenix and was last seen frolicking around the streets of Paris with hubby Joe Jonas, so we’d say she’s doing much better,

The Game of Thrones ending famously divided fans, as the cast promised it would, but no one could predict quite how angry audiences would be over a rogue coffee cup, Jaime Lannister’s miracle hand and a sneaky water bottle.

But what really let us all down was the bizarre turn of Daenerys Taragryen (played by Emilia Clarke) from undeniable wonder woman to power hungry dictator. And don’t even get us – or Lena Headey – started on the woefully dull death of Cersei Lannister.

Game of Thrones seasons one to eight are available to stream on NOW TV.
