Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Lena Headey is entering the episode “The Bells” from “Game of Thrones” as her 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Drama Supporting Actress. This program aired May 12 and was the fifth episode of the eighth season for the HBO show.

In this installment, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is captured, but Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) releases him to help persuade Cersei (Headey) to surrender on behalf of the city and the crown. Cersei’s army is instead forced to surrender, but Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) burns all soldiers and civilians. Cersei and Jaime reunite but are crushed as the Red Keep collapses.

This is the fifth career Emmy nomination for Headey in this role. For the 2019 contest, she is competing against rookie contenders Julia Garner (“Ozark”) and Fiona Shaw (“Killing Eve”) and three actresses from her own show — Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, who had one prior bid.
