It seems like every other day, we get more information about more cast members getting added to Amazon’s Wheel of Time show, which at the risk of jinxing looks to be turning into something special. Or maybe it’s just the great marketing.

Anyway, we already know it’s playing the main characters: Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike as the Aes Sedai Moiraine Damodred, Dutch actor Josha Stradowski as lead character Rand al’ Thor, and so on.

More recently, we’ve been hearing about more minor characters getting cast, and since we’re dealing with a 14-book series, there are plenty of those to go around. Deadline now brings us news of another character cast: Indian actress Priyanka Bose will be playing the Aes Sedai Alanna Mosvani.

A little background: Aes Sedai are basically the wizards of this world. They’re all women, the male half of the One Power having been corrupted thousands of years back. Alanna Mosvani is part of a subset of Aes Sedai known as the Green Ajah, the warrior branch of the Aes Sedai always ready to battle minions of the Dark One. As a Blue Ajah, Moiraine is more concerned with politics.

In addition to Alanna, Amazon has also cast her two Warders. Warders are basically bodyguards for an Aes Sedai, bound to them through magic. Moiraine’s Warder is al’Lan Mandragoran, played by Daniel Henney in the picture above. Because Alanna Mosvani is a Green Ajah who always needs to be ready for battle, she gets two Warders: Maksim and Ihvon, played by Taylor Napier…

…and Emmanuel Imani, respectively.

We can assume that the first season of The Wheel of Time will adapt the first book in the series, The Eye of the World. However, as Adam Whitehead of The Wertzone points out, these characters don’t show up until the second book, The Great Hunt. Maybe the first season will bleed into the second book, or show us what these characters are doing around that time? Or maybe they’re already getting ready for season 2.

We don’t know when The Wheel of Time will premiere on Amazon, but clearly, things are moving along nicely.
