Even the royal family needs to unwind and relax after a hard day’s work, and what better way to do so than with your favourite TV show.

Prince William, Prince Harry, and even Her Majesty herself have their own favs to kick up their feet and watch after a very royal day, but though some shows, like The Crown, seem fit for a queen, we were somewhat surprised by some of the others.

Check out the royal family’s must-watch list of TV shows here:

Queen Elizabeth

Before Downtown Abbey ended in 2018, Queen Elizabeth absolutely loved the show. She’s also particularly fond of watching The X Factor and Coach Trip.

Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret in The Crown, also revealed the queen love’s the Netflix hit chronicling her life.

“A friend of mine was at a party where he didn’t know anyone so he sidled up to a group who were discussing the show,” she said on The Graham Norton Show, according to HELLO! Magazine. “One of the women said, ‘My granny kind of likes it.’ It turns out it was one of the princesses – the queen’s granddaughter. It’s quite a reliable source – ish – so I am sure she is a fan!”

Prince Charles

Prince Charles is a big fan of the BBC show, Poldark. The Prince of Wales mentioned he watches the series while on a visit in 2018 to Cornwall – where the show is set.

According to ITV News, he said of the novels, written by Winston Graham: “What I can’t get over watching that Poldark stuff on the television, is just how many he wrote.”

Prince William

While Kate Middleton enjoys watching Strictly Come Dancing, Prince William quite enjoys Killing Eve. Together, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge watch Homeland, One Tree Hill and Game of Thrones.

In 2017, Tom Wlaschiha, who plays Jaquan H’ghar in the show, said the couple even tried to get spoilers from him.

According to the Evening Standard, he said: “They wanted spoilers, but I said I couldn’t tell them. I’m surprised they have time to watch such a long-running series.”

Prince Harry

Both Prince William and Prince Harry are big sci-fi fans and love anything from the Star Wars franchise. When it comes to reality TV though, Harry enjoys a good episode of Britain’s Got Talent.

Back in 2009 Britain’s Got Talent judge, Amanda Holden, spoke to Prince Harry and shared her encounter with the Independent.

“Prince Harry came over and said to me, ‘Is Piers Morgan really a prat?'” She responded, “‘You can’t say that but yes.'”

Prince George

The future king has already settled on a few favourite TV shows and movies of his own. When he’s not watching soccer with his dad, the young royal loves watching The Lion King and Fireman Sam.

According to BBC, after hearing of Fireman Sam‘s biggest fan, to mark the show’s 30th anniversary, the show released ‘The Prince in Pontypandy’ which featured “a certain little Royal fan”.
