Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has revealed that he never wants to play a role like Jon Snow again.
The actor, who can currently be seen as sketchy estate agent Alex in Netflix’s Criminal, explained that he has no interest in playing closed-off, “heroic” characters that further old-fashioned stereotypes in any future projects he gets involved with.
“I feel that emotionally men have a problem, a blockage, and that blockage has come from the Second World War, passed down from grandfather to father to son,” Kit told The Telegraph in a candid new interview.

“We do not speak about how we feel because it shows weakness, because it is not masculine. Having portrayed a man who was silent, who was heroic, I feel going forward that is a role I don’t want to play any more,” he added.
“It is not a masculine role that the world needs to see much more of.”
After Game of Thrones came to its controversial conclusion last year, Kit was asked whether he’d ever want to reprise his role as Jon Snow, to which he replied: “Not on your life.”

But it wasn’t so much to do with the characterisation then, at least, as Kit reflected on the impact of spending a huge chunk of your working life portraying the same person.
“If, like me, you go all the way back to the pilot of Game of Thrones, that’s almost 10 years of your life,” he recalled to the BBC.
“That’s really unusual in an actor’s career. It was a huge, emotional upheaval leaving that family.”
Criminal season 2 is available to watch on Netflix now. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
