The world is often compared to a stage. Our lives as drama and we can be seen as characters of a story. The year 2020 was a hell of a ride. We are about to move into the new year and leave all the drama and despair with the end of the Red Wedding year. The theatres are getting ready as well, to help us get a fresh start for 2021. In partnership with BBC NI and BBC Four, the Lyric will present the international premiere of Sadie, directed by Conleth Hill.
Sadie is a Lyric Theatre Production in association with Stephen Rea’s Field Day Theatre Company. The play is directed by Conleth Hill (Lord Varys, Game of Thrones) and starring award-winning actress Abigail McGibbon. It will be filmed on the Main Stage in February 2021, and broadcast on BBC Four as part of BBC Arts ‘Lights up’. Sharp-witted cleaner Sadie develops an intense, dysfunctional relationship with a much younger man. It leads to triggering a psychological showdown with the remnant demons of her past.
Various Game of Thrones stars have often expressed their love for theatre. Emilia Clarke and Indira Varma once opened up about how theatre made them feel in an interview. What do you think about Sadie? Talk to us in the comments below!
