Game of Thrones veteran Sean Bean is joining the post-apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer for its second season, and now, he could return for a third!

Ahead of the show’s second season premiere next week, TNT has renewed the post-apocalyptic show Snowpiercer for a third season, despite not knowing how the second will do, per SyFy Wire. They must be pretty confident! And having Sean Bean on board as your villain can’t hurt.

Snowpiercer takes place in a desolate future when the world has been plunged into a new ice age. Only a scant few humans survivors, scratching out a living on the titular train that is constantly circumnavigating the globe. Decades into this new reality, the train has become heavily divided by class, with the privileged citizens occupying the spacious front of the train while the under-privileged are kept in the back.

In the first season, the under-privileged fought back, with Layton (Daveed Diggs) leading the way. In the new season, the mysterious owner of the Snowpiercer, Mr. Wilford (Bean), comes aboard and supercharges the conflict.

Although it got only okay reviews, the first season of Snowpiercer proved popular, becoming the top new cable drama series of 2020 and attracting 30 million audience members across all of TNT’s linear and digital platforms. With a big name like Sean Bean arriving for season 2, things can only improve, although it’s anybody’s guess whether he survives to the third season. The guy does have a reputation for dying onscreen.

Snowpiercer season 2 premieres on TNT on Monday, January 25 at 8:00 p.m. CST
