Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon has unveiled the first official look at Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke in full costume as filming continues.
Doctor Who star Matt is set to star in the highly-anticipated fantasy series as Prince Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother of King Viserys, depicting the character in the story set 300 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones.
In the first photograph of the actor in costume as the prince, he is pictured with Truth Seekers actor Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, the first-born child of the king.
In the image, the relatives appear to be standing on a beach, looking at each other with their matching silvery blonde hair and elegant robes.
Rhaenyra stars at Daemon seriously, while he looks back at her with what appears to be a rebellious glint in his eye.
The pair will undoubtedly remind Game of Thrones fans of the portrayals of Daenerys Targaryen and Viserys Targaryen by Emilia Clarke and Harry Lloyd respectively.
Shortly after revealing the first look of Daemon and Rhaenyra, House of the Dragon shared more pictures of the cast, including Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, otherwise known as ‘The Sea Snake’.
The new pictures also showed Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Rhys Ifans as her father Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King.
Alicent is depicted wearing a forest green dress and a matching headdress, donning golden jewellery.
Her father, Otto, is wearing a similarly dark ensemble, as he looks off mysteriously into the distance.
Fans were full of excitement at this first look at the upcoming action-packed series.
‘I was NOT prepared for Matt Smith as a blonde/Targaryen,’ one person tweeted.
‘This show is gonna be fire,’ another said.
In response to the picture of the Hightowers, a fan wrote: ‘Excited is an understatement!!’
‘She better get the recognition she deserves,’ another said of Olivia’s character.
Several people also said how excited they were to see the Velaryons introduced in Westeros.
‘Welp, the Sea Snake is gonna be my favorite character on #HouseoftheDragon,’ a fan tweeted.
‘All Hail House Velaryon. The other House with Valyrian dragon rider blood. The Sea Snake is King,’ another wrote.
House of the Dragon is currently filming, with apparent sets recently being spotted in Cornwall.
House Of The Dragon is expected to arrive on HBO in 2022.
