Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, and Sophie Turner, who starred as Sansa Stark, are said to have drifted since the end of the HBO series
Maisie Williams wasn’t even a teenager when Game of Thrones filmed its first season.
The actress – who played Arya Stark in the HBO series – was just 12-years-old when she landed the role and met her best friend Sophie Turner, who starred as Sansa Stark, and was only 13 at the time.
The pair quickly developed a great friendship but rumours have been rife as of late that they drifted apart after the show ended, with reports Maisie wasn’t at Sophie’s wedding to Joe Jonas – despite her revealing she was the Maid of Honour – and claims that Maisie hadn’t been able to see Sophie and Joe’s daughter Willa.
Maisie has now spoken out about the rumours, insisting her and Sophie are more like sisters, as she dubbed the actress her “favourite person” on the set of the show, which ended in 2019.
Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, she said: “She played my sister so we were like sisters.

“We got the role at the same time and we grew up on the show together and it was so amazing to have another person who was going through it at the same time because I think I just would have, it would have been too much otherwise.”
Maisie also opened up about her time on the show and how it catapulted her to international fame, something she wasn’t quite ready for but she has learned to cope with being recognised now.
“In retrospect, yes, but at the time, I kind of just felt like how everyone felt you know, overwhelmed at a lot of things,” she added.

“I just got very anxious in public settings all the time.
“Now, I feel like I’ve had a big break from it and I’m much better with public-facing.”
Maisie opened up in the past about how she lost a part of her childhood after joining Game of Thrones.
She explained: “My whole adolescence I felt I couldn’t hang out with my friends. I wasn’t at school.
“Now all of a sudden everyone in the whole world was doing the same thing.
“It felt really nice. I’ve loved lockdown. There was no FOMO.”
The 24-year-old actress admitted she felt a lot of “pressure” off her when the show ended.
“Being a teenager is hard, then I was also on this show. I never knew who I was but I’ve come out the other side now. I’m not that different to the girl I was trying to be – but I was having a crisis,” she added.

“Once the show was over a lot of pressure was off. I’ve got to a point now where I forgive myself for the person I was. I’ve become a lot happier with the person I am.
“Fitting in isn’t worth it. Be a kid, allow yourself to live freely. Make mistakes and be silly.”
