Frank Grillo recently made a splash as the supervillain Crossbones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a role he returned to the Disney+ animated series, What If…? But fans of the horror franchise The Purge have missed him during the last films. But that is about to change thanks after he announced on The Playlist podcast that he’ll be coming back for The Purge 6.
“Committed! We committed to doing that— Purge 6 with [James DeMonaco] directing,” Grillo said. “It’s based on the Leo Barnes character. I’m excited. He’s going to send me the script. He just finished it. So, yeah, I’m really psyched about that. I love doing the Purge movies…I’m psyched, they called me and said James wanted to direct one more and I’m like, ‘Don’t even tell me. I’m in.”
So Grillo confirmed both that the franchise would live to see another day and that he’ll be part of it!
The Purge 6 is happening!
Grillo first appeared as Sergeant Leo Barnes in the sequel to the original Purge movie, The Purge: Anarchy, and then returned for The Purge: Election Year. We just couldn’t get enough of his mission to find the man who killed his son.
The fifth Purge movie was supposed to be the final installment. However, if you’re a fan of horror movie franchises, then you know they never really die, and The Purge is no exception.
The storyline of The Purge 6 is unknown at this time, except that it involves Grillo’s character. There are a lot of ways they could go, and with Grillo at the center they all seem worth watching.
