A GAME of Thrones star is urging people in the York area to book an appointment to make their will.
Iain Glen, who played Jorah Mormont in the fantasy blockbuster series is backing the annual Will Aid campaign.
Throughout November, solicitors across the country will waive their usual fee for preparing a basic will and ask clients to make a voluntary donation to Will Aid.
The campaign is urging people to book their appointments now because they expect demand to be high.
At least 17 solicitors in the York area are expected to be among them.
Firms taking part include Ison Harrison, which raised ÂŁ5,575 for the campaign last year.
The actor, who also had a starring role in the TV series Downtown Abbey said: âI found making a will a happy, comforting, and cathartic experience. Knowing that you will be providing for and making things that much easier for your loved onesâ he added.
âMaking a will with Will Aid brings you peace of mind while supporting nine of the UKâs most treasured charities.â
The campaign suggests that those making wills donate ÂŁ100 for a single will, and ÂŁ180 for a pair of mirror wills.
Jon Jacques, Chair of Will Aid, added: âWe are very grateful to all the solicitors, new and returning, who selflessly volunteer their time to write thousands of wills without their normal fee each year.
âNot only does their philanthropy help thousands of local people protect their loved ones and causes close to them with a professionally-written will, but it also helps the nine Will Aid charities continue their life-changing work.â
It raises money for ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF, Sightsavers, and Trocaire.
Those who wish to book a will can make their November appointments by calling 0300 0300 013 or visiting www.willaid.org.uk.
