With “House of the Dragon” capturing the attention of viewers everywhere, it’s important to remember how it started.

Or, rather, what came after.

“Game of Thrones” became HBO’s most-watched series ever during its run from 2011 to 2019. Its eighth and final season averaged just under 12 million viewers on HBO and 44 million across all platforms, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“House of the Dragon,” the latest of author George R.R. Martin’s television-adapted series and the “Game of Thrones” prequel, premiered in August with a similarly impressive viewer turnout. According to CNBC, a total of 9.986 million viewers across linear and HBO Max platforms tuned in to watch the first episode, the largest audience for a new series in HBO history.

Understandably, many “Game of Thrones” fans are tuning into “House of the Dragon,” which takes place 200 years earlier and centers around the Targaryen civil war.

So, which characters are most popular among fans? Well, we aren’t too familiar with the “House of the Dragon” stars yet, but here’s how Ohioans feel about those who fought for the Iron Throne in the original series.

Who are the most popular ‘Game of Thrones’ characters in Ohio?

Versa Networks analyzed the most-searched “Game of Thrones” characters and house in each state, and the results may surprise you.

According to the network, Daenerys Targaryen is the most popular female “Game of Thrones” character in Ohio, and Gregor Clegane, known as “the Mountain,” is the most popular male character. The most popular house in the state is House Targaryen.

To find the results, Versa analyzed keywords from sources like Fandom and Screen Rant, Good Trends data during the “Game of Thrones” television period and search interest data over the past year leading up to “House of the Dragon.”
