There’s always another Marvel movie to get hyped about, and today, it stars Paul Rudd. Marvel Studios has just released the first trailer for its upcoming Ant-Man sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. This is the third film in the Ant-Man series, and will serve as our big introduction the MCU’s next Thanos-level villain, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). We’ve already seen Majors as a Kang variant in Loki, but this one is the real deal:
Kang offers Scott Lang a deal in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
A lot has changed for Scott Lang/Ant-Man since the events of Avengers: Endgame. We discovered in Ms. Marvel that his podcast appearances have gained him a certain level of fame. He’s been reunited with his daughter Cassie, has a seemingly good relationship with Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), and has reunited Hope’s parents Hank (Michael Douglas) and Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer). But of course, things can’t stay like that forever.
After Scott’s daughter Cassie makes a device that transmits a signal to the Quantum Realm, the whole family is seemingly sucked into this secret universe. As Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” plays, we get a montage of scenes showing off gorgeous visuals, otherworldly beings, and setting up the major conflict of the film: Janet van Dyne has been keeping a big, Kang-shaped secret about the Quantum Realm and its ruler. We also get a glimpse of Bill Murray, who will be playing a new villain named Krylar.
The trailer also gives us our first good look at Jonathan Majors in a classic Kang the Conqueror outfit, complete with blue face mask. At the end, he seemingly offers Scott Lang a deal, saying “I can get you home, and give you more time…if you help me.”
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
