The power of the internet is very real. Emma D’Arcy proved this by causing a spike in the sales of an alcoholic beverage and its ingredients. If you don’t know the backstory, HBO Max uploaded a TikTok of the House of the Dragon co-stars, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke. They talked about their favorite drinks in the clip, and D’Arcy answered, “Negroni, Sbagliato, with prosecco in it.” Their rich accents were the cherry on top. Pretty soon after, 40,000 other TikTok videos used that audio.

And now, Entrepreneur reports that bars and retailers have noticed a significant increase in Negroni Sbagliato sales. Catizone tells Entrepreneur that his Brooklyn-based distillery has received a record number of inquiries and messages about the bitters they sell used in the drink. Catizone’s company capitalized on this and released a pre-made Negroni Sbagliato drink. Their website received hundreds of orders for these, the most they have ever had.
Drizly, an alcohol delivery service, recorded a 40 percent increase in Prosecco sales the weekend after the TikTok post. Hank Tolley, the bartender of a Brooklyn bar, informed the magazine that he hardly ever received Negroni requests in September. Now, he makes six to ten Negronis a week. Jules Villa, the CMO of Campari, says, “It’s incredible how effective it was, that video. I think Emma D’Arcy interpreted the nature of this cocktail in a way that couldn’t have been possible if [they were] briefed.” Campari manufactures the eponymous bitter used in the drink.
