Filming for season two of House of the Dragon is said to be over, with one of the show’s stars revealing that his stint on the production has come to an end.

The fantasy series, which is a prequel to Game of Thrones, premiered in August 2022 and kept the Westeros flame burning with 10 tense episodes.

Set across 30 years and featuring acclaimed performances from Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy, the first season laid the foundations for a civil war.

Despite the ongoing Sag-Aftra strikes in Hollywood, certain loopholes allowed House of the Dragon to keep filming and aim for a summer 2024 premiere.

Now a key cast member has revealed that they’ve officially wrapped production on the new episodes, with Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon) confirming the news on social media.

Posting on Instagram, the actor unveiled a gallery of some non-spoilery photos that he was able to sneak while working on set over the last few months.

He uploaded a snap of his trailer, a quick backstage selfie, and the sun rising in the distance on a warm morning, adding a loving caption.

‘What a blast to work with such great people! Now it’s in the hands of editors, SFX folk, and whoever else. Hope you like it when you eventually get to see it!’

In the comments, season one director Clare Kilner, who oversaw production on a handful of episodes, responded with some clapping and fire emojis.

While HBO is yet to release official word, Variety has reported that season two recently wrapped production.

Filming for the series began in the spring of 2023, meaning that by the time of season two’s premiere the season will have been in production for almost a year.

The next season is confirmed to only contain eight episodes, as opposed to the first season’s total of 10, as the conflict ramps up in Westeros once again.

With King Viserys now dead, his wife Alicent Hightower and his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen are both vying for control of the continent.

The first season has been nominated in the outstanding drama series category at the Emmys, with the show set to discover its fate in January 2024.

Last month, pictures emerged from the set of season two that showed actors filming a bloody and fiery battle in the countryside.
