George R. R. Martin will be returning to Clarke College
George R. R. Martin is a literary giant, and the knowledge he possesses and the world he creates have awed several generations of readers. According to a recent report by the website Los Siete Reinos, Martin already has some future plans, along with completing his books and working on the numerous spinoff projects being developed at HBO. Martin is planning to be a professor at the Clarke College in Iowa, where he once used to teach half a decade ago during his younger days.
George R. R. Martin and his history with Clarke College
From 1976 to 1978, Martin taught at the Catholic university Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. It was a learning facility exclusively for women at the time. After completing his studies at Northwestern University in Chicago, he managed to support himself until 1975 by organizing chess tournaments and earning money from his job as a reserve volunteer doing community service while opposing the Vietnam War.
But writing did not provide him with enough perks, so when they ran out, he sought a new career. He was hired by Clarke College thanks to the recommendation of his friend George Cuthridge. Between 1976 and 1978, George taught science fiction—a topic he loved—and journalism, his first degree.
