It was a proud day for Sir Rod Stewart as he attended his son Liam’s wedding to his girlfriend Nicole Arkutovich in her native Croatia – at a famous TV spot.
The legendary singer and songwriter, 79, watched his son, 29, walk down the aisle with his long-term partner Nicole, also 29, alongside his own wife Penny Lancaster, 58.
Sir Rod, who’s been married three times himself and has eight children, beamed with pride as he attended the romantic do, also alongside Liam’s mum – his second wife Rachel Hunter, 54.
And any fans of Game of Thrones will have noticed that the wedding’s location, the Church of St. Ignatius in Dubrovnik, has quite a prominent role in the hit fantasy series.
The US show, which ran between 2011 and 2019, filmed its iconic ‘walk of shame’ scene there in 2015, with fans of the show frequently jetting off to Dubrovnik in the years since.
Queen Regent Cersei Lannister, played by Lena Headey, is forced to walk the streets naked in front of an entire city as punishment for crimes committed earlier in the series.
The iconic moment is perhaps best remembered for the repeated chant of Hannah Waddingham’s character Septa Unella, who repeats the phrase ‘Shame, shame, shame’ over and over while ringing a bell.
Cersei begins her walk at the top of the steps of the real-life church – although TV effects and studio trickery ensure that a fictional cathedral stands atop the steps instead.
The Stewart family walked up those very steps in their gorgeous wedding finery to the church where the couple finally said their vows and were declared as man and wife.
It looked to be a day for lilac and teal as Penny and Rachel opted for gowns and dresses in those respective colours, while Sir Rod kept things breezy as he went for a white waistcoat and silver suit.
Liam, who plays professional ice hockey, went for an all-white three-piece suit on his big day, while Nicole cut the figure of a beautiful bride in her own pure white dress.
The day was one of smiles and celebrations as the happy couple, who have known each other for 16 years, finally tied the knot after years of being together, than apart, then back together again.
A website for the wedding revealed that the pair met each other as 13-year-olds playing beer pong, before starting a relationship at the age of 16.
The pair then juggled a long-distance relationship as Liam started his hockey career and Nicole finished high school and college in California.
After dating for eight years, they went their separate ways for a while before finding their way back to each other – Nicole gave birth to their son Louie in May 2023.
Sir Rod also enjoys a large blended family as he has eight children from five relationships – baby Louie was, however, only his third grandchild.
