Kit Harington’s Westeros Fatigue
Kit Harington, the legendary Jon Snow, has hit a wall in his Westeros journey. After years of battling White Walkers and politicking in the Seven Kingdoms, he’s feeling drained. Despite his curiosity about the prequel series, House of the Dragon, Harington’s psyche is crying out for a timeout. He needs to recharge before revisiting the world that made him a name. In an interview with the Associated Press, Kit Harington said,
“I just can’t watch it. I think for me it’s just I’ve spent too long there. And I wish them all the best, and I hope, I hear it’s wonderful and going really well. But I don’t think I’ll ever watch that show, and I don’t think I’ll watch ‘Game of Thrones’ again for a few years. It felt like the thing I wanted to do was get into doing a full character arc, rather than just an episode of this, an episode of that, or a movie arc. I wanted to do a TV character arc again.”
Sharing bond of reluctance
Kit Harington isn’t alone in his reluctance to watch House of the Dragon—Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, shares similar sentiments. In an interview with Variety, Clarke expressed her hesitation, likening it to attending a school reunion that isn’t her year. She’s deliberately avoiding the show, finding it too strange to revisit the world of Westeros.
Lena Headey, who portrayed Cersei Lannister, also declined to watch the prequel series. In a brief response to The Hollywood Reporter, Headey simply said, “Nah,” and elaborated that it would feel “too weird” to watch.
“I just can’t do it. It’s so weird, it’s so weird, it’s so strange. It’s kind of like someone saying, “Do you want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? You want to go back to that school reunion?’ That’s kind of how it feels. I’m avoiding it.”
