The world of Game of Thrones has a lot more ages, continents, and bloodlines to explore, leaving the potential for numerous spinoffs. After House of the Dragon, the next one on the line is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s Dunk & Egg novels. The first season of the show has finished filming, with 2 more seemingly on the way.

HBO eyeing three seasons of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
Set about 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will take the fans back to Westeros this year. HBO’s EVP Francesca Orsi recently had a chat with Deadline, where she talked about the planning for the GOT prequel:
“You’re going to be so impressed by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Dunk and Egg, the two leads, the sort of brotherhood, the paternal nature between Dunk and this young man. So much so that we’re already planning on how do we build this for the three seasons in total. We’re not picking it up officially, but it’s looking very good. We’re looking at it as a holistic piece, Seasons 2 and 3, because there’s three novellas.”

She added, “The role of Egg only spans not even a year, so you have to roll into it season to season pretty quickly, because this little kid will grow up too quickly if we wait too long. So we’re thinking about that in terms of pickups.”
George R.R. Martin loved A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1
Previously, Martin had shared on his blog that he had watched and loved the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Orsi also seems to agree with that, and confirms the author loved it. Martin had reiterated,
“A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, for starts. It’s done. Ira and his team wrapped the first season months ago, and moved right on to post-production. I’ve seen all six episodes now (the last two in rough cuts, admittedly), and I loved them. Dunk and Egg have always been favorites of mine, and the actors we found to portray them are just incredible. The rest of the cast are terrific as well. Wait until you guys meet the Laughing Storm. and Tanselle Too-Tall.”
