Young actor Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg (Prince Aegon Targaryen) in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has shared a charming and honest look at how much of his own personality overlaps with his character, and where they differ.

- He finds both of them to be adventurous
The biggest differences
In a recent interview with host Jeff Conway, when asked what parts of Egg relate to him and what parts feel completely different, Dexter was quick to point out the obvious gaps:
“Well, he’s royalty and I’m not royalty. I wish,” he said with a laugh.

He also joked about one of Egg’s most noticeable traits:
“I’m not bald in real life either — well, not usually.”
Dexter added that unlike Egg, he does not hate his family, emphasizing:
“I don’t hate my family. I love my family.”
The strong similarities
Despite these clear differences, Dexter feels he shares a deep connection with Egg in many important ways. He explained that both he and his character have a strong adventurous spirit:
“But we are very similar in a lot of ways. We both love adventure and going off and having fun. Obviously, I don’t want to kill people, but we definitely share that adventurous spirit.”
A perfect match for the role
Dexter’s comments show why he was such a strong choice to play Egg. His natural love for adventure and fun mirrors the young prince’s curiosity and bravery as he travels with Dunk across Westeros. At the same time, his self-awareness about the differences (especially the “royalty” and “bald” parts) highlights his maturity and sense of humour.
His ability to relate to Egg’s adventurous side while staying grounded in his own normal life makes his portrayal feel genuine.
